He, i would love to know from you guys/girls, why did you join this forum, and how did you find it, and what it keeps you going..
Don't give an answer like "i came to learn hacking, i found it from google, etc. ) elaborate a bit please. :) (but again feel free to answer as you like)..
I joined EZ, because i wanted to learn hacking, :P nah.., i never really considered my self a "hacker" at least not in the strict meaning of that term, i am more a curious person that want to learn some stuff and likes to experiment in this field, and if the time and place is right, to use any skills to achieve my goals, if any. ::)
I found EZ by accident i must say, it was 2011 when Alex P. aka netspliter aka no.1 cyber-enemy for FBI,Interpol etc. was arrested in Greece, it was big news back then,i red in a site about the incident, and how NS was caught by the police, and the conversation he had with another guy from Norway (no is not Ande neither IFailStuff :D )in an IRC channel that lead to his arrest, and of course i found that this individual was the owner of some sites, including "evilzone.org" i found again the same article and the funny part is (which i didn't noticed back then) that has translated in Greek language a post made by another member here, that talks about NS. The post still exists here, as the member does ( though not so active ).
(** Neither me nor the article, made any assumptions that Evilzone.org had to do anything with netspliter's actions, etc. **) Anyway that's old news.
So i checked the forum, it was a bit quite back then, so i checked again some months later, it was active with good quality posts and lots of resources, the most important was the fact that EZ had nothing to do with other lame sites out there, i loved also the colors and the "atmosphere" of EZ, after i registered i found out that the key members of EZ (admins, mods, vips, active users, etc) in majority are cool and knowledgeable folks, also i loved some funny discussions we had on IRC.
Above all EZ is a true community, where anyone can feel like home what ever is his interests, security or what ever.
What keeps me going..? As i said the community, and the people behind it.
**********
PS: Probably the article makes a mistake when it says that NS was the owner of EZ.org at least at the time of his arrest, i know as i red in the forum that Ande was always the owner of the "new" Evilzone.org, and that NS was used to be in the past, owner/co-owner of HackersHeaven or Evilzone.

I was actually told about evilzone from an old member that isn't around anymore, Roen Hayden, you can remember him by his Cthulhu picture. This was about 2008. I have just always kind of been here for the community after that, filling up creative arts, vices and galactica.
-
I was looking for a new security forum to participate in. Then this forum popped up on the search results. Everyone seemed rather intelligent and mature, so I joined.
Just go to the coder's office and steal it.
That was the post that convinced me to register.

Wanted to learn to hack :P
Basically that's it. I figured the best place to learn about such things was through other people.
-
me, huh! i was having a long holiday with a stack of weed(not exactly though i can't remember) so i decided to do something interesting other than fall down a cliff. I found evilzone on a list of top five Learn to hack websites. The writer warned about you guys not easy on kid glooves, and that was enough motivation that you knew what you were doing.
So i signed up here. Anything i know, i linked out of here and am so glad for the community that always keeps things going.
Sometimes school keeps me busy but am always so excited the moment i fire up any browser to open EZ.
The knowledge and love keeps me going.

Yep saw that same review. A lot of people did.

Well let me see I found Evilzone by Google. I like to find new communities to get involved with (not so many left) but I found Evilzone. When I signed up I was a big skid, I knew web application attacks such as XSS and SQLi. I knew the basics of some stuff and nothing about other things. Because of my lack of knowledge I was really inactive the first few months. Hell I even forgot about it, I then found my bookmark and logged in again. I had gained some more knowledge and I felt comfortable participating in the community.
One day I joined the IRC channel and I never really left since. I almost live on that channel and that's probably one of the main reasons for me to say. The community, I love the atmosphere, the humor, the knowledge. Do I need help I just ask and I will receive it am I looking for fun, I just join the channel and the fun begins.
Well, Evilzone you will never get rid of me so you better start living with the idea of me fucking around on the forum and on IRC :P

heh i know ive said it in a few places but why not do it again! :)
I found EZ while looking for Game of Thrones books. this site was i think the #2 or #3 result on the search. so i go to it and see the banner and go hmmm this place looks interesting. grab the pdfs and start browsing around. 15 minutes later i made an account to thank OP for the upload/mess with one of the commentators on that thread (that they didnt think people interested in GoT would be hackers! pft!)
Anyway got a nice welcome from my intro post and have been running around the site/irc ever since. Obviously i LOVE the knowledge base here. But just as important as that the people here are always willing to help so long as you prove you have at least some basic understanding of what your asking you guys are always willing to point someone in the right direction. "go read this" ok! just love the people here its the first hacking community site ive ever been a part of that REALLY feels like a community. Which is what makes EZ an addiction. ALWAYS new stuff to read, always good conversations going on. Still my greatest worry/fear is not being able to contribute back for all the info i have received. I do my best though, and will continue to do so, because its what makes EZ awesome.
well now that ive written yet another mile long post im going to go goof off or some such. Aww hell who am i kidding several other topics have new posts, time to go read those.

It's difficult to remember, but i think i had just recently learned about programming, and decided at that time that i wanted to be a pen tester. (I don't want to be one anymore.) So, i did some research on pen testing, and one constantly recurring idea was that you needed a community to really get good. So, i started looking up 'hacking forums'.
They all sucked until I finally came across Evilzone, the only place that didn't seem fake, and felt like a real community. I lurked for a few days, and finally signed up. Just never get tired of this place :P
-
It was two years ago when I started learning hacking. I used to learn tips, tricks, security bypassing, cracking from a site named http://www.innocenthacker.in (http://www.innocenthacker.in). Then I searched for top 5 hacking books, on that website, there was also a list of top 5 hacking forums. EZ was second in that list. I signed up for the top hacking forum but when I browsed that, that was not more that bullshit. So I decided to join other alternatives and then I came to EZ. My basic wish was to be one of the best hackers out there but when I joined here I came to know the real meaning of hacking.
That's why I love the place. Its my 'Home' on internet.

Well, I started my forum journey when I joined BackTrack forums. I've been active there for about 2 years, but grew tired of that forum (not that it was a bad forum, it had nice admins and mods and I liked some members of the community). Since I had stopped using BT, it didn't make sense for me to be there helping others/getting help myself.
A month later after leaving BT forums, I decided to look for some other forums. I started by forums from my country, but the first I found was full of skids and leechers, so my membership didn't last long. Soon after, one of the members of that forum created some other forum which I joined and have been a member since then (mature members, good knowledge).
While on this last forum, I saw someone talking about LFI and RFI which at the time I had no idea what it was. So I googled for some tutorial about it and that's when I came across ande's tutorial (very well written and explained BTW) and decided to look around and check the rest of the forums. This was when I realized this forum has the best community I've seen on-line. Mature members, good humor, intelligent discussions, etc...
So it was a no brainer, I just had to join you guys.
@ Paradox
WTF is place holder. :D
Is like reserving a spot for a future post.

Is like reserving a spot for a future post.
Oh yes, dam dam me.
Good to now Snayler, as i told you in the past, i remember some great articles you done for BT in that forum.
-
Been roaming skid shit for more than a year before I found this place.
I grew tired of repeating myself and insulting skids.
When it comes to fora , ive been active for rougly 9-10 years.
During some gray afternoon in oktober I searched long and steep, while all of the sudden evilzone rendered in my browser, nevermore shall I weep.
-
@ proxx
It's worth the wait, isn't it ?
-
@ proxx
It's worth the wait, isn't it ?
It sure is bro, good to be here.
Thats why we have so little skids, EZ can only be found by those that are ready.

Idk about that, it's preeeety easy to find. Just hard to fit in ;)
As for me, umm well I was doing research and EZ kept popping up. Ebooks links, and some of the code stuff here, as well as that top 5 hacking sites (which I got to from looking up some cheats/help/whatever for Uplink?? internet...) and finally started browsing around, found what I liked, registered, and the rest is archived lol
-
As for me, umm well I was doing research and EZ kept popping up.
he, you are one of those that EZ found, and not the other way around.
Good to see you around btw.
-
By complete accident, actually. EZ doesn't rank that high on search engines in general, sans a few notable exceptions (Game of Thrones and so on).
Either way, my interest in information security had rekindled during that time and I was on a knowledge binge. I really wanted to join a knowledgable and experienced hacker community, but I was dismayed at all the worthless information and premium skiddie crapware forums out there (I was a member of Ubers for four days before I got so disgusted at the sheer stupidity of its members that I left).
When I first saw the name "Evilzone", I thought "Great, another skid forum..." Thankfully, I decided to click on the link to the thread and the board theme caught my eye immediately, plus the topic replies were quite decent. The people knew what they were talking about. I read a few more threads and decided "This is it... this is the community I've been looking for," so I signed up and I've been active since then.
Perhaps the only other communities that stack up to Evilzone (that I'm aware of) are BinRev and The Ethical Hacker Network. However, the former is a bit too old-school for my tastes and the latter is too formal.
I don't regret joining here by any means
-
@Snayler and @geXXos : Guys a "Place Holder" means that I'll comment here but I don't have time to do that right now. When I'll have time, I'll edit this and post what I want to post. :D
Its a nice idea, isn't it? ???

Such threads bring tears of joy in my eyes :)
To contribute to this thread I'll post how I came to be here. I have mentioned it many times before, but here I go again.
I cannot remember exact years and dates when I joined so I'll omit those.
It was a period probably everyone went through, when they first came in contact with bypassing this and doing somewhat illegal (things they shouldn't be doing with computers) stuffs. Of course I had just enrolled in a new school more related to computing which was about 4 years ago, I received my first computer about 7 years ago but for few years I was only playing games... When I enrolled in a that school that was the period I somehow, can't remember how, became a member of hackforums, I was an active one there too. Can't bash the forum too much, it's where I began with all this.
The more I read and understood more things, the more I realize that hackforums is a bad place to be in.
Evilzone has existed for much longer before I even registered on hackforums but wasn't known that much and it was the period when evilzone was going through lots of changes with admins and conflicts and whatnot.
So, a year or two later a thread poped up on hackforums, it was by darkc0ke. He was assembling a team for... stuff. I was very active in that thread and got picked out for the team. Soon after the thread was closed, darkc0ke introduced me to a newly emerged forum, called 1nj3ct, that's where I first met my good buddies ande, IFailStuff, Satori, Hanorotu and others that are no longer active. As time flew by, I drifted away from hackforums and concentrated on 1nj3ct alone. I was made a moderator first and then an admin (or did I went straight to admin position? can't really remember).
The forum also had a great community which was really small for a long time, 1nj3ct period was the period I learned the most about where I should go next to grow but it wasn't long until 1nj3ct got closed down for reasons unknown, the forum lasted for about a year or two. It didn't come down tumbling down the hill, nope. It was rather a transition between 1nj3ct and evilzone of that time. Ande was an admin on evilzone (more or less) but had conflicts and stuff so he was one of the founders of 1nj3ct, when 1nj3ct was transitioned most of us fled to evilzone, the situation there has now cooled down. I met my good buddy Factionwars here when I first came as well.
I got this member position I am at now with time and since I joined evilzone few years ago (my account is registered in 2010 :P) I never wanted to leave, it was growing big and strong ever since...
My experience was a colorful one :)
Gah, I dislike writing stories, I suck at writing stories :/
And I hope I didn't say too much in there, if any admins feel it was too much you can redact the story :)
-
No that's a nice story Kulver, i like especially the responds from key/old members.
Thanks

I joined EvilZone on July 13, 2012, 10:00:42 pm, Which, incidentally, is Friday the 13th 8)
Anyway the whole story started this way, I was watching the news and saw in a slide that the website of Pakistan's National Highway Authority had been defaced by an Indian nicknamed, Ashell and belonging to a group called "Indishell." At the time the whole Pak-India cyberwar thing was on the rise. Me, being young, and silly, decided to go online and "hack" an Indian website in return. I googled stuff like, "How to deface a site" and other silly things that I regret now. Then, somehow, I came upon evilzone, through a list of "Top Hacking sites." It just, somehow got my attention. Anyway, I signed up, and the first thread I created was "How do you deface ****.gov.in?" Or something like that. I got bashed immediately by DeepCopy, but back then, he was known as Skidiot .h. After that, I decided to PM other people on tips on defacing websites. I must admit, I can imagine how stupid I must have looked back then. The first person I PMed was, Phage. Back then, he was known as Narraz. Anyway, he corrected my mindset and set me on the correct path. I must admit, I owe a lot to him. After that, my EvilZone journey has been on the roll. Signed up for the EvilZine project, got a good position in the community and got to know some staff, then got made a mod :D
Now, here I am, writing a post on how I came to these forums. Or is it, my entire Evilzone journey, in a few lines?
Heck.
I must say, Evilzone.org is the only forums I am active on and what I am on the Cyber world,, is because of Evilzone.

I was doing a search on good sites on learning infosec/pentesting/hacking and this is one of the sites that came up. I visited this site and liked what I saw and the eventually signed up. I looked at the other site but kept tryna come back here.
-
I can't remember, was so long ago when I joined evilzone.net... Must've been 2005 or 2006.
I'm pretty sure I downloaded some warez and had a link to it in the torrent.
-
I don't remember why I joined....
Oh wait it was because ande made me admin with only 10 posts XD so I had to participate more.
Originally because I came from SO and before that HS ;) no one remembers that but good times XD
-
Where is andes reply :p
-
Carding.nu and Ryan1918.com got shut down so I had no where else to go. :( lol I like this site though its quite entertaining. :)
-
I plan on doing my final thesis on computer networks, probably security related ... so i did a google search of any hacker related forums, took a list with the best ones, stalked the forums awhile, then decided i'd stick with evilzone thanks to the content, and some posters that got my attention, and joined the site.
Though the "Evilzone don't handle newcomers with kid gloves" might have piqued my interest a bit more :)
