more information has always flowed out of russia to US than the other way around. I mean hell we know about the SUPER secret underground train tunnels they built, that they wont even acknowledge. i mean this was one of their greatest state secrets EVER, and we know more about it than they do. So frankly i see the typewriter move as more of a knee jerk reaction than anything they have that is "solid". That being said the speculative part of that article has been speculated about since damn near forever. unfortunatly its one of those "just because we dont know of it yet, doesnt mean it doesnt exist" scenarios. i doubt we would ever know for sure that it did exist(if it does) which means it will almost certainly remain a question.
little note: i love how articles like that always skip over AMD as if intel is the ONLY processor option.

Don't become complacent due to that. As Vezzy correctly pointed out, if you use Intel chipsets you're also in the loop.
Also don't forget that the NSA is the primary developer of SELinux (source (http://news.softpedia.com/news/NSA-Has-Legitimate-Code-Running-in-Linux-Kernel-and-Android-361289.shtml)) so don't count your chickens just yet. ;)
