Cicada 3301 is a name given to a mysterious organization that recruits from the public via a set of complex puzzles. The first Internet puzzle started on January 5, 2012 and ran for approximately one month. A second round began exactly one year later on January 5, 2013, and is possibly still ongoing. The stated intent was to recruit "intelligent individuals" by presenting a series of puzzles which were to be solved, each in order, to find the next. The puzzles focused heavily on data security, cryptography, and steganography.

Does anyone know that status of this subject, has it been solved or it's still a mystery? is true and authentic puzzle or just a lame hoax.

Even though I would like to believe in this, I don't. There are simply too many unknown facts about the group. The idea is cool though, it could be fun to create such kind of challenge for Evilzone.

Cicada 3301 has not been active for a while, due to [unwanted] media coverage.

I watch this topic closely myself. It's mostly for recruiting cryptologists, code breakers, social engineers and the like. Follow the breadcrumbs if you are interested. They still review applicants, I'm sure, but none are accepted who have not been contacted yet.

I was simply saying, "have a look for yourself."

Nobody is going to give you the answers.

Now that's a good sign, somehow you are avoiding answering my question about your affiliation?  Anyway, I asked you what is breadcumbs because I searched Google with no satisfying results.

Thank you for the clarification Darkvision. This whole subject turned out to be a real mysterious challenge.

Very interesting. We should do something similar but on a much smaller scale of course.

So it appears that there was two rounds of this so far; January 2012 and January 2013. So, is there another round this year? I saw some picture similar to the original, but it didn't have the same signature.

Very interesting.
