: New School
: silenthunder January 07, 2014, 09:30:05 PM
I started school last semester at some local community college and was forced into taking 19 credits towards an IT degree while working full-time, and I hated all of it. First off, IT isn't what I wanted to go into, and secondly, it took away from my time here at EZ.

So, I've transferred to an online school, I'm only taking two classes at a time (8 credits) and for the time being I'm only going to be working part-time and I'll attempt to spend more time here with you guys. The new degree I'm going for is computer forensics (however the school calls it 'computer technology network security administration' or some bullshit). It's a little bit more expensive, but this way I can take my time and I'll be able to pay as I go.

When I started school at the other shitty school, I said that I'd probably start contributing more/asking for help, buuuut that didn't exactly happen. I'm not gonna promise anything now, but given I'm doing things the right way this time, if I need help for any of my classes I'll be posting a few questions and I'll definitely post any side projects that I work on.

You should never prioritize Evilzone over school! I know we all love Evilzone, but real life has to be your nr. 1 priority. When that's said, I hope you have found a solution that works for you. It's important to believe in what you do otherwise it will be too big a pain to complete. Good luck :)

Hi silenthunder, Welcome back. I've been feeling your absence the whole time, missed you a little.

I know how it's like being forced into something you never wanted (going through it right now ~_~). The whole thing seems pointless and I feel like there's no future.

But since you're back on you're owne track I wish you all the best. Good luck.

Also, Self taught is best taught.

Quite so. Anyway...

@silenthunder - You seem to feel quite guilty about not spending all your time at EZ. Chill man, we will be here. This is Evilzone; People come and people go. Just stop making promises, no one is going to hold you to anything anyway ;)

On another note good luck at your new school. I hate it when the shittiness of he school takes away from your learning.

Exactly.
A good quote I heard somewhere: "There is a difference between schooling and education. Schooling is just a framework, education is your responsibility." Or something along those lines.

Well, I just dropped out of school, oops. Lol the people lied to me a bit, saying that my grants/scholarships will cover everything except X amount every quarter. I was ok with that and I was perfectly able to afford paying the X every 11 weeks.. but then they sent me papers and called me wanting me to sign them and everything, and I was confused and thoroughly looked at it. They wanted me to take out a $5,500 loan every 11 weeks to pay for two classes. There's no way I'm going through with that, so for now I'm not going to school. Instead, I'll focus on getting certifications and earning money so I can hopefully go back to school eventually.
