How dangerous is it for me to open up a port on my router(6882), and then forward that port directly to my personal computer? It's for torrenting purposes. A private tracker I've joined requires me to do this in order to seed properly, and it sounds extremely unsafe to me.
Also, a different private tracker I've been on for some time never required me to do this, so I was just wondering.

I would not do that :) Its not the open and forwareded port that is dangerous. Its more or less the application on you machine that is listening on that port. Problem is that you give someone access to your machine/application you don't even know. Tbh I don't see the sense in that. I am not a torrent or torrent protocols expert but for me this seems unnecessary. Do you have any detailed explanations why they want you to open and forward that port?

"To make yourself connectable."
Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I don't want to lose my membership though and I need to get my ratio up.

Dont worry about that too much.
Most of that stuff is needed to track if your are sharing or not.
Perhaps you could put that fixed for their IP address.
I have plenty ports open only not to the whole world plus secure services.
