What Linux os would you prefer to use for hacking, and why.
Or if you use windows, I'd e interested to here why...
Ex. Ubuntu/back track, gnome or kde,....
I prefer Linux, backtrack because it was designe for penetration testing and has some great software to cover your tracks.

Backtrack for sure. It comes pre-loadded with almost all the tools you will need. I'm currently using BT5 and i'm not looking back. If you are using Windows for anything other than testing you shouldn't be on the forum ;D

I use Ubuntu as my main OS for everything and I install stuff as needed, because windows sucks!

In all honesty, what OS you are using really does not matter. You still have to know your stuff, and when you do. You can just bend the OS in the direction you need it to. But I do agree Linux is an all-over better OS than other options out there, simply because of its openness and licensing.

I was going to say exactly this. A man is only good at what he does if he uses the tools at his disposal.

Agreed !!!! I also use BT5-KDE the majority of the time but CAIN is pretty sexy...for certain tasks. :D

I love linux, but I've started to enjoy powershell... ALOT. In the end it doesn't matter, use VM...
And windows 4?
-
Linux is definately the better choice. BT5 is really all you need to jsut sit down and start working.

if you want to begin hacking, developing, creating i will prefer linux, because you will get familiar with the system who runs the most servers out there.
