i'm thinking of buying a new laptop because my desktop is really old now and i'm moving to new place for some months for some work.i usually use a vm with linux and windows(mostly for games).since my budget is little low(around 600$).so what should i go for.

Me too. I'd recommend looking at some Lenovo laptops, mainly because their products stand up to it's price.
Also, gaming on laptops isn't really fun. The flat, small, "spill proof" keyboard ruins most of it.

Asus or Lenovo would be my recommendation. I fond both companies to provide products of a really good quality for a fair price. But why don't you tell us a little more about what you expect of the machine?

I've been using a Sony Vaio for a year now and it has performed perfectly fine for anything that I need to do.

Whatever you do, if you find something be sure to drop the technical details here.
If you want to run linux on the metal this is very important.
And you are doing it the wrong way around :P
