Kmod Manager is a handy utility to easily load and unload linux kernel modules in a rooted android device. This requires busybox to be installed on the device. Kmod manager will automatically load the dependent modules and unload them when they are not needed anymore. Currently KMod Manager will look for modules only in ‘/system/lib/modules’

Note:- Some busybox on the market has issues with modprobe applet. This has been tested and found working with busybox binaries from most of the custom roms ( CM , Omni and their derivaives ). Busybox from Stephen is also having issues now ( top rated busybox installer on the google play). Please use BusyBox installed from JRummy Apps

Please note that your kernal will need to be compiled to enable the modules, you can then use this app to insmod and rmmod

Why would one want to do this? does it save battery greatly?

This is if you compile your kernel with wireless drivers for usb wifi dongles so you can use your phone to crack wep, capture handshakes, any kind of pentesting that would require monitor mode on a wireless adapter. Think of this as enabling .so modules for your kernal pertaining to wifi modules. No need to have the drivers insmodded in your kernal if your usb adapter is not plugged in
