Ok, so I have been using BT5-KDE since it was pushed but I just tried out the Gnome (32-bit) version and love the speed!!! Everything is so responsive even running in Virtualbox 8) I know the "KDE vs. Gnome" is all over the internet but I am curious what EZ thinks...
Thoughts anybody?

I love gnome. KDE is something like Windows Explorer, but I don't like because it is confusing. Gnome3 has too much pretty graphics, makes my head hurt, so does Unity. Gnome2 is really Perfect.

I prefer Gnome over KDE. It's not a speed issue for me, i grew into Linux using the Gnome environment. It's what I'm accustomed too, I just don't like the 'feel' of KDE.

i use gnome nowadays, i like the classic gnome style, i love it actually :).
And i can't complain about the speed.

Gnome. But I'm using fluxbox :)
-
don't care about either... cool part about linux is shell.

Gnome :D
KDE is garbage -.-

What exactly is your reasoning? I used to use KDE when I ran slackware, found it pretty neat. Now I run gentoo with very minimal flux, so can have several xterm sessions. X11 alone was kinda dull.

Well, Im no power linux user, I just play around with it sometimes
But I've run KDE on a couple of different computers
And Iv'e always found it to be really slow,
its like playing modern warfare 2 on a computer built for counterstrike...
However, I've always found gnome to be faster.
So i gotta side with gnome, partly because even on low spec computers, gnome runs like a charm :D

Well last I ran KDE must of been 1.5 years ago, on a very crappy computer(512M, celeron). Didn't notice any lag, have ran worst though without trying KDE. I like the KDE style, Konqueror worked good for linux. IMO best UI I've used on linux, although my UI has always been windows. Kate was best text editor I've ever used, on any platform.
I use ps3 for call of duty, haven't played counterstrike in ages. Damnit I can't wait for MW3 to come out, hurry the fuck up infinity ward.

Used to be a KDE worshiper back in the 3.5 days. Ever since 4 it has gone to shit, using too much memory, unstable etc.
Now my soul has been taken by tile based window managers. I now use awesome on my linux/bsd systems. Its the only reason I know how to program lua.

Gnome > KDE. Gnome looks cleaner and uses fewer resources.
I'm not too fond of most WMs in Linux. They usually look bubbly and unprofessional.
I prefer Fluxbox or Openbox. Openbox can be skinned nicely, it looks pretty good, and it's really lightweight. I have it on Debian on my G1. Fluxbox is lightweight too but less "pretty". I like the sharp edges because it reminds me of XP, and it looks really good when you make the title bars smaller.

Neither. I prefer a simple desktop environment without useless eye candy (hi KDE), that runs performant and does not get screwed when updated to a new top-version (whats up, gnome?).
So i choose XFCE, maybe some of you should give it a try. It doesnt have any fancy stuff, but it simply works :D
