Heard about in the news.
Hackers to prevent hacking. What will the hackers do afterwards?
-
Im sure most governments will already hire hackers.. In one way or another, I mean, If a person is good enough to be hired by them and protect from hackers, then they must also know ho to hack in order to stop them!
I saw another thing on the news about the US Government, They've set up a load of computers in a closed private network, to simulate the internet, and they're going to use it to run tests on possible situations that could happen.
-
Simulate the internet?? That sounds near impossible.

Scaling things down is not impossible at all. The results however, not only because of computer count, but becaouse of geographical reasons and whatnot, will not be the same as the real thing.
Also, ontopic: This is old news, governments have been doing this for a long time. However, they are picking the wrong people, in most cases anyway. Guess a lot of people wouldent even work for them tho :P

The NSA has been recruiting on defcon recently.
But as ande noted, they choose the wrong people.
People who think they think as hackers/crackers, but you gotta think as one, and not act according to some kind of 'hackers profile'.
-
Honestly, who could resist the resources (that you could play with) that a Gov't would offer you? I'd fucking do it.

The government has been doing hacker recruiting and competition for a few years. There was a really sweet wargame last year (bunch of people all competing for root on a box) but they dumped the open entrance.
