Too expensive for a 1gb HDD. that stuff doesn't add up cos my SD card is bigger than your HDD.

There is something wrong here, the HDD can not be 1Gb? put a link for the whole specifications.

1Gig solid state would nog be something strange.
Proper SSD is expensive.

I guess it means 1TB it's IMPOSSIBLE to have such specs with a 1GB HDD :)

You've posted incomplete specs. Clock speed? RAM frequency? And post the model number too.
And that price you posted is insane, too.
Review your posts.

Also you didn't say what are your intentions of doing with it.
And yes, the price is also insane for such a lappy. Specs sound very similar to Asus X550c model, for which I payed ~440 euro from a computer shop, so it was brand-new.

Blah blah unimportant specs blah blah
Sure the RAM looks nice but, I doubt you'll use 8gb of RAM on a laptop. One of my laptops is an 8GB, but I never even used half of it until I turned it into a server and started running like 5 VMs on it.  So, while it's nice, I wouldn't let that be the thing that makes you buy it. Also, you missed the absolute most important part. What is the wifi chipset? Does it have good linux compatibility?

In other words: Is it Broadcom or Realtek? If so, wipe any thoughts of that laptop out of your head and start looking for a new one.

Dunno about realtek, but broadcom is pretty compatible with linux. However it does needs extra drivers...

Realtek works too ;)
However, you can get a dongle, at the cost of a USB port.

Which is a horrible idea ;)
I have seen many many weird things with realtek NIC's, you don't wanna know.

^That should be his choice, then :P It's ugly as fuck, though.

Edit:
I don't get what we're arguing over :P OP hasn't even said he'll use *nix or what NIC he has, already.

Thats just unacceptable.

I paid like 500ish CAD which is obviously way less than that (granted i knew a guy who worked at the store) for a laptop with 4 gb more ram... A slightly better cpu... And a touchscreen. Granted my graphics card isnt that good i dont think, but a) i never use anything graphically intensive on my lappy. And b) youre talking about paying twice as much as i did. Plus mine has beats audio which is a fancy way of saying when I'm done i can point at the little red icon and sell it to some sucker for way more than its actually worth :) keep looking around mang

I don't know why people are saying the laptop is overpriced. Although the price isn't an amazing deal, it is completely normal.

You can get near equal specs at lower prices. Why waste your money?

A laptop with those specs runs for around 850 dollars. He did lose some money, but its not an amazing amount.

Take a look at Kulver's reply. Anyway, it's useless arguing anyway. OP isn't replying.
