: Old vs New games

Do you guys think that old games had more "soul" within comparing to the new games? Somehow I find that new games force graphical content above anything else. Whenever I tested new games, I get tired very fast, but when it  comes to old games, I could play hours, weeks and years games like: Stronghold 1, Heroes of Might and Magic III (WOG or any extension) , Dungeon Siege 1 (Kingdom of Ehb).

I think the only reason I like some of the older games so much is because I was a kid when I played them. It was new and exciting.

I still play them on occasion mostly because I have emulators for my tablet. Majority of play happens at work though. I rather play a new game when I'm home relaxing. Yes I want supper realistic graphics, yes I want in your face blowin shit up and popping heads off with a sniper rifle.

Everyone want to be realistic, just what I mean is that they focus too much on graphics , so they miss gameplay. I remeber when I played Jazz and Jack Rabbit 2. Such lovely game, so intoxicating.

I enjoyed just about all of the Apogee games.
Remember Commander Keen and Alien Carnage / Halloween Harry?

I also enjoyed Jazz Jackrabbit and Raptor.

I dont own any current console system. Got a broken Wii. I still rock the emulators, got em all on the PSP. I hope that I will be able to start my son off with Atari and gradually up the systems before he gets hooked on the 12 button games.

Here is some more nostalgia:

Moved.

I appreciate old games and I occasionally love to remember my days as a child, but as time progresses and games evolve, I began to like the new ones. Of course they focus more on graphics, so they make shorter games (the story is usually awesome). Back in the day, they couldn't get much out of the graphics, so they were restrained to making longer games.
Right now I've got CoDG on x360 and that shit with HD graphics is FRIGGIN' awesome.

Counter Strike 1.6 kinda proves that graphics don't always matter. I still enjoy the older games but still, graphics matter in most cases. It's always great to play the classics on newer machines.

this applies to everything.

everything old is better than today's crap. games, movies, tv shows, music.
