: Disable autorun on all drives
: Kulverstukas September 10, 2011, 09:31:09 PM
Registry file that will disable the autorun on all drives. Really recommended to do that for security reasons.
More on that: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967715 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967715)

I disabled mine using something in my control panel but I don't remember what it was. I have Kel's CPL Bonus Pack but the version I used then was much older so I don't know if the tool is still included.

I think you are referring to "Autoplay" ...I would check the reg key though...this is the only way to guarantee autorun is disabled. Some AV scanners (Kaspersky) automatically pick up this vulnerability and ask the user if they would like to disable....I agree with Kulverstukas...somebody with physical access can really F*ck up your world with autorun enabled.

USB autorun is disabled on 7. CD/DVD autorun still works. This reg file will disable everything.

You can do every thing easily with group policy.. no tools required.
just type gpedit.msc in run or cmd then find what you want then just enable or disable it.

gpedit is also a tool :D and what you do in Group policy is written to the registry. And this reg script will add itself and no group policy is needed. Just think about idiots that don't know what Group policy is :P

In that case what ever you do in windows is written in registry... but we all know that registry is like a hell man... contains lot of data. we can't every time go there and edit it.

Any way, this tool is sure useful for normal home user.

In the registry you can tweak every friggin aspect of windows down to the core. If you know what you are doing that is :P
