How long does it take to hack a WPA2 encrypted password when you use rockyou as passwordlist and you do it with a GPU? Generally speaking how long a GPU needs to go through a large file like rockyou. You know that a CPU with 4 or even 8 cores is horrible slow compared to a GPU but I will know long it takes for a GPU. To go through rockyou with a 4 or 8 core CPU takes 7-10 days but whatabout a GPU. Is this really so much faster? Maybe one day? I am sure that there are guys here that know something about it.
Maybe someone could ma a test and share experiences with us?

depends on the GPU.

The rockyou.txt takes me about 2 minutes sometimes less , 8 min for the uniq wordlist and it takes maybe an hour to run through a 200gb folder of wordlists.

rockyou.txt takes nowhere near that long. On an older dual core laptop i5 processor it takes me like an hour.

As stated before, it depends on the GPU. But, generally speaking, yes, it would be MUCH faster.

Buy a gpu with as many cores as possible. But there are mediocre gpus available that need 3-8 minutes for rockyou.
ATI is better than NVIDIA, same standard cards have much more cores.

Ephraim Core Count does not necessarily equate to more computational power, it does in the same generation of the same architecture but beyond that its pretty much useless.
This is because of differences in how they implement their GPUs in general and major changes across chipsets.
Generally a card with a NVIDIA chipset has more single precision FLOPS per core than an AMD.
