Last year, I saw this forum, it was somehow a really dedicated IT forum. Now, when I finally made an account, I see, a forum where children ask stupid questions. (like I want to learn C++, where I start).
I propose: At register page, make a labyrinth between onion site (I am sure, that 40% of this forum, don`t know what it`s an .onion site). I can help you with that. (onion = free site + request some IT knowledge to access it).
Or I propose, to change this forum name: White Hat Learning Programming. + an age restriction.

Skid filtering is in place and under review.
Every forum get skids, they will find a way in, our 'super hard' question ended up on yahoo, go figure.
-
I think all your suggestions sound like shit.
-
an age restriction.
How you think that would ever work. New register candidates send copy of their driver's license to ande?lol [emoji14] Besides, I know that here is many quit young people that are very respected members of the community. After all many people start programming and other stuff this community is about in quit young age. So it doesn't automatically mean that a kid is a skid.
I'm not even going to bather commenting your other suggestions.

Evil Zone have sections for newbies programming newbies hacking newbies ...
so newbies thread should be probably found in these sections if moderators are doing a good job (i don't know about it i don't browse the forum often)
as @proxx said skids are on every forum and they'll end up finding a way to bypass any challenge you make on registration (who can't use Google ?) + what's the idea of a forum ? isn't it a place you learn from others and help others learn ?
when you started browsing the Internet you was a Skid probably or you as born knowing how to code and how to hack ?
it's always good to be nice to new members and help them pass from being skids to have some good knowledge

This has been discussed time and time again.
We will have a certain leech ratio but this is also what gives this site its traffic.
We (mods & admins) do mod this forum on a daily basis and we feel this is working as it is.
Suggestions are welcome though , It is appreciated, we ourself discussed this last month iirc.
-
true if i remember right i was there this day and the only one on irc who was against those sections was geoff

I was talking about the staff boards.
But now you mention it I think DeepCopy dropped the subject on the IRC.
@ontopic
I forgot to mention that most of the skids will stay away after getting bashed and since there is no breeding ground we have a relatively low percentage of shitpost.
-
i'm not sure who started this on irc but if i'm not mistaken it was phage talking to geoff anw i'm kind off taking this thread off topic so back to the topic i'm against both suggestions the age restriction and the labyrinth challenge to be able to register.
+Evil Zone is still one of the best forums you'll find on the net .
oh one more thing find me one big forum without skids and i'll send you my pic naked :)
-
SecurityOverride has this feature where you need to complete x missions before you can actually post which seems reasonable, the scope of the forum is different though. I know some members are against it because they would have never registered themselves with such a system :P
Eventhough we have a massive amount of accounts only few of them are active, I think evilzone could be more interesting when there are more active members.
Making it harder to register might hold back potentialy good members from ever creating an account.
I am not sure how great the impact would be.
Myself I am a lazy asshole and might bail out on something that takes too long.
-
you have a point here laziness might stop members from joining the forum .
and for some reason i don't know EvilZone have a low number of posts per day for such a forum

I'd say because not many know of it, I didn't until someone recommended :)

in my opinion it's because people don't value content i know a lot of people that really believe that hf is a great community well for me it's one of the worst but they just love these kinds of forums full of shit
-
Was discussed in IRC, hence the new registration method and if you idle in #register long enough lots of lulz comes from it. /me thinks having a #register lulz thread could be fun.
@OP
Maybe we should have a way to recognize terrible grammar and won't let them post again until they pass a grammar test. But then this thread wouldn't exist if it were the case.
My ultimate suggestion was a questionnaire. For example you get asked a few multiple choice, yes no, true false, questions to determine your current skill level and what you want to accomplish. Throw in some skid answers like hack Facebook, deface websites, Pro hacker, etc. When they pick options like that it up bans them on the network (irc included) and redirects them to HF.
Lol

I think for skid proofing just require new members to send 172,295 Satoshi or 0.00172295 BTC to evilzone wallet.
$0.50 cents is nothing. It shows commitment to learning.

But then they'll just go around and say $0.50 is too much for them and that they're unable to pay it and come up with an endless amount of reasons why. Then again it does sound like it could possibly work.
-
That isnt the point. I (we?) dont want just anyone joining. Especially people whining about their limitations.
Are you saying you wouldnt pay .50 cents? :o
You can earn BTC for free.
Google: earn bitcoin for free.
I earned .44 cents for doing 1 survey. (waste of time, but money is money)

I myself think the hazing system does a mighty fine job of separating the skids and the ignorant from potentially good members. Yeah, they will join, but as proxx stated they don't usually stay long. We as a whole are pretty good and effective at getting rid of those who are not wanted.
I have been slacking lately, but I will get back on it if need be :D
^That, the hazing system works well I agree

If there is an Evilzone monthly suscription I would totally, pay it but it won't work for new members since they are not commited to that commtity, they read some post, maybe hanged on IRC, but paying even a symbolic amount of money is hard when u are not sure u like it there. And myself when I first stumbled around EZ I would not have payed anything to get into: and one of the reasons is that I am not 18, and I do not have my own money, and thus can't just go and buy some BTC or whatever and pay EZ, thus this method is also some sort of age restricting. But as said above I would totally pay a suscribtion to be here

like the earlier poster said, it's easy to get that amount of BTC and won't really cost you anything ;)
Not that I've been here long, but from the response and the great info on this forum, I would also pay 0.50$ to stay here
And just like you - I'm not really an adult yet

The only issue i see with hazing is:
It gets old quickly. EZ OG's dont even bother hazing most the time unless another OG says something first.
Its not fun reading newbs haze other newbs, just creates more hazing.
The amount of threads that contain hazing or other bs increases.
I prefer quality over quantity (why do we need new members anyways?)
Instead of thinking about what to do to make it easier on newbs, I would suggest thinking about what to do about keeping HQ members active.
Id pay $0.50 extra for quality. Also shows that I 'want to' join, and not just joining to ask a lame question or rip all the EZ books.
With enough BTC there could be polls on what to spend it on. Especially if BTC is on the rise.

Paying for evilzone will never be an option. It's fine as it is. Tbh I give up on hazing I'm bored of it. I support it, but I'm not wasting my time hazing newfags

Mm.. If pedobear is around, we don't need any hazing system imo. He intimidates newbies without offending them(and sometimes gives us a good laugh). We don't need any system to pay to keep the skids at bay, they come and go. When they realize that EZ is way too HQ for their level, they either quit their skiddy-ness or quit EZ. Either way, win win. Hardly a few are persistent and honestly i don't think there is any harm. But where the hell is pedo? I would like him around the member intro board lol
And for those childish questions as OP mentioned about learning C++ and all, we already have a board hacking newbies and we can always point the noobs to stickies(tho that becomes a pain in the ass when you do it more often). Maybe a fix would be to send an automated PM to a newly registered member to fuckin read the stickies? Most of the questions are "how do i start hacking". Phage has written an exceptional post regarding that. Why not put that in the PM as well? I know most people would ignore the PM but those who are really interested, would read it.

meh i thought this was gonna be a cool idea. then it totally wasnt what i was expecting. matter of fact im gonna go back and take a cookie for getting my hopes up. But fuck it lets turn this into what i thought it was.
I'm unsure as to how many of "us" have kids, but it might be a nice thing to have parents be able to request a "child" account that is restricted from a number of sections(so they dont stumble onto deepcopy's CP), but still has beginner content for the young mind. ie introduction to integrated circuits etc. Obviously im not sure we have the necessary "want" for a forum section for that, that is to say that the need exists, but may be something to think about "for the future".
