That way people can upload their sweet trick shots and hopefully get into OpTiC or FaZe :P.

Refrigerators got wifi for Twitter, Pandora and food network and also the weather. Because phones are too mainstream

Internet of Things! Next step will be your shower, bathroom mirror and other things, to send automatically nude pics to the internet :D
Seriously now, this thing is getting more weird every day. Everything has conectivity but don't have a good purpose to do so.

Holy shit, that kind of stuff would take term cyberwarfare in a whole new level. Or maybe the term cyberwarfare should be erased because if infantrys start to have computers in their guns at least then cyberwarfare has taken a place of "standard" warfare.

Most likely wifi isn't best thing to put in the rifle but some sort of communication between sniper rifle and computer might be useful. That way spotter wouldn't need to tell the calculations to shooter directly, instead he could just type it in the wrist computer( which are in military use in some countries already) and the calculations could take effect automatically or they could appear in shooters scope and he can make fixes manually. Just something that came in my mind and most likely at least few big countries has something like this already.

My only concern is whether or not it is open WIFI or if its encrypted ? I cant imagine how else they might have managed to get access to the device if it was encrypted. Unless they exploited one of the wifi driver or something(I think that's possible, but not sure)

@gray-fox
This wrist computer integration thing it's a hell of ideia, nice one.
About cyberwarfare on standard warfare, but is cyber already, isn't this a paradox? I'm confused... :D

To show everyone when they get a 360 no scope.

The WiFi is not actually part of the rifle, but the scope. It can be connected to an iPad to view the target on a larger screen. @gray-fox I believe you are partially right here, it sounds like the "smart" aspect of this is entirely in the scope, which senses wind, distance, temp, and other variables that affect the shot, and make adjustments accordingly.

Most modern military snipers use ballistics computers anyway :P
