: XMPP still compatible with facebook ?
: Synfer October 12, 2015, 09:32:08 PM
So yeah, i know facebook is some annoying shit atm, but as I still want to chat with some friends I can't get them to move to xmpp/jabber since most of them aren't that much into tech stuff.

I'd like to know if xmpp clients like Adium/Pidgin and the likes still can be used with facebook since I can't get a proper answer, some saying it does, the others saying it doesn't work anymore.

Using the deface module atm in order to still be saved of the shitty content but I'd like to go one step further.
Anyway, thanks.

PS: Maybe this is in the wrong section, I didn't know where to put it, so sorry if it's not in the right place.

I found this: http://developers.slashdot.org/story/15/07/16/131254/facebook-finally-ends-xmpp-support-for-3rd-party-chat

Looks like it is no longer supported but still kinda works... Why don't you ditch Facebook and then these problems will be gone :)

EDIT: You may already know about https://crypto.cat/ but if not then take a look at it. Might be useful to you.

Not my work, but is designed by James Geboski (or so it says on the page) This is for Pidgin.
