Jeff wants to learn how to surf. Sees other Jeffreys doing it, looks cool, looks fun and dangerous. Jeff goes to surf shop and asks, "what's the best surfboard?".
Surf shop owner answers, " try em out one at a time and see what board feels right."
Seriously, whatever OS works best for you on your hardware.

Thanks for replay!
I choose BlackArch for my old Netbook now.

It's not even on the list! DOES NOT COMPUTE!

I mean seriously? Just a bunch of tools over a linux kernel and a GUI? And it doesn't really matter which one you chose, mostly, they'll have same tools. Dude, don't go for the hacking OSes, use your daily Linux distro, install the tool you want, they are pretty much available everywhere.
-
As far as I am concerned,
Security OS's suck ass, it's just a bunch of tools pre-installed on a generic Debian or whatever distribution, you basically learn nothing with this kinda distros, but some skid shit.
Anws when it comes to the OS's you are talking about:
- Kali might be useful sometimes on a flashdrive
- Parrot, is basically Kali with some fancy graphics, wallpaper but bloated as fuck and I do not like it at all.
- Gnack Track is probably the same
Anws what I advise you to do is to install arch, then install blackarch's repos like this u'll have over 500 tools to download when u need them without the Kali and friends bloated crap, also U'll have a legit distro you can use everyday

^This:
Same thing with kali, use debian+kali's repos if you need something from kali's toolkit. But with arch you might not even need those blackarch repos, because most likely AUR already has most of the stuff you need/you think you need.

I use the BlackArch repos seems like they stay more up to date than the AUR repos. Plus adding BlackArch repos is super easy there is really no reason not to add them.

Its work to install all the things u need and if u have an os where all these things and tools preinstalled, it saves u a lot of work and time ;D
(sorry for my english, again :( )

Real hackers use WINDOWS ....
The easiest thing to do would be to install a few different OS's/ Distros in vms to mess around with till u decide what you like .
Everyone has different opinions.
If your machine can handle VM that is, that way if u break them you don't have to worry.

I think the best solution to use a whatever OS with virtual machines.
If you got real hacking jobs, you can't live without legal Windows and MS Office. You need to write a documentation, and some tools need windows. For example if you hired to pentest an online bank, they give you some card reader to use for login etc.
From linux distros I prefer Kali, but keep in mind, sometimes you need to deploy tools on the "target", so learn how to compile/install your tools on any server.
So, IMHO no meaning to compare hacking OS-es, you need to find a tool (not an OS) for the hacking work.

Friendly reminder the whole original part of 'hacking distros' is to provide a standard base for professionals to use. That way you know everyone on the team has the same tools, same environment, and depending on how rigorous your reporting format is, it saves extra paperwork documenting your environment.
Sure thats not the primary goal behind a few of the hacking distros out there but imo those one are misguided. For the sake of learning, building (and documenting!) your own environment does far more for you. I know I've learned a few interesting things simply by stumbling across half-forgotten articles, blogs, neat tools, etc by doing no more than finding the source of some BackTrack tools I liked for my own setup.
And obviously for your own non-work shenanigans, your own environment will always be better than some hacking distro simply because it is inescapably tailored to yourself. If you're willing to run the risks, nabbing the repos from hacking distros isn't that bad of an idea (until you 'sudo aptitude update && aptitude upgrade' and find yourself staring at a broken kali installation).

Stupid topic, them kids all want a pentesting distro yet have not a fucking clue what to do with it nor how to compile tools themselves, must say it looks cool to the other skids.
Forget the whole fucking concept and start learning shit.

I started with Kali in college, and my professor suggested that we don't try to tackle a ton of tools at once. Take kali, choose a purpose (for instance, my classmate decided he wanted to learn password cracking first) and then use the tools for that purpose to develop your skills with them, learn what you like and dislike, and keep tabs on what tools work for you for constant practice.
Having a hacker distro won't make you a hacker. It won't teach you how to use the tools it comes with, or what tools are even the most important out of the entire ball of them. Ignoring all the tools and starting small is honestly the best way to go about it, and at that point you are just as well off installing some form of linux and just picking up programs as you go

Yep I know this one slightly different, "Having a hacker distro won't make you a hacker any more than having a physics textbook will make you a physicist"

I only wanted to know the best distro for basic programming and scripting! I know i'm a fucking script kiddie, thats why i began to learn something about hacking a few weeks ago. With this question i only wanted to know the best distro for starts, between windows.

So now we are at the point where we consider people who can use tools hackers... (in fact, we have a lot of posts that at least suggest it lately). That's not the case. Hacking is a mindset and always will be. It is not about using tools or distros, it is about an urge for knowledge and the philosophy behind it. Most people don't get this at all, some just picked up the mantra of "Kali is bad for you" and repeat it without understanding why. So, read the damn stickies, get the general idea, and develop that mindset already. (Hint: it does not involve "I want to be able to crack a password", at least not in it's pure form).
Read what proxx wrote earlier and close this topic full of corrupting, moronic bullshit rearing it's ugly head again.
@b00ms1ang: If you think you are accused of something you are not guilty of, carry on, I just picked up your post to illustrate a point.

Simple, go to distrowatch.com , pick something from the top 100 you like that is not security related.
There is no right or wrong, its all about taste, make it your home, welcome to the other side
ProxX out.
