Anonymous has posted a video declaring war against Islamic State following a series of terror attacks in Paris that have left at least 129 people dead.
The hacker group, known for its cyber attacks against controversial organisations and individuals, is believed to have uploaded the footage on Friday night.
In the video, an announcer wearing an Anonynous Guy Fawkes mask and speaking French says: "You should know that we will find you and we will not let you go.

I think ISIS could give a flying fuck; they need to target the main source or taking away their weapons would make the real difference
Very interested in seeing what they may do.
To date, according to an in-depth investigation by Foreign Policy, they have taken down 149 Islamic State-related websites and exposed 101,000 Twitter accounts and 5900 propaganda videos.
-
Oh man... anonfags again talking bullshit in public... like they can do anything to ISIS.
-
I guess if anonymous could hack into some military drones and drop some bombs in heavy ISIS areas instead of DDoSing some randomfag ISIS support site and twitter accounts there would actually be some kind of accomplishment. If I were the US, Russia, UK, France, etc I would send a warning to innocents in areas where there is a lot of ISIS and tell them to leave, after X amount of days nuke the fucking place killing everyone. Wouldn't be much support for ISIS after that shit. Simple solutions... There will always be civilian casualties in war, we didn't seem to care in Hiroshima, why is this any different. Targeted airstrikes aren't working nuke fucking Syria and look at the marvelous mushroom cloud that is dominance and peace
-
About the most effective thing internet activists could do to fuck with an extremist state like Daesh would be to uncover and interfere with their funding mechanisms and money flows. Even a pariah state cannot exist in a financial vacuum. Reveal a few of their offshore tax haven bank accounts, the first world companies doing back door deals with them and generally whoever takes care of their money and economic output and shit would get very real very quickly.
Will never ever happen though. It'll just be 10,000,000 skids spamming ISIS twitter feeds for the lulz.

If such a thing was done it would totally expose some of the big U.S businessmen supporting and contributing to ISIS indeed it will heat up quick. However, with all that money they would probably hire some "L337 GH037 H4CK3R" to fuck up "Anonymous" ;D
-
Funny thing is that they already declare war to IS few times. What is more, few months ago I read an interview with some alegate hacker form anonymous. He said that their are proud of that the few of their groups of hackers, fight for IS and Syrian rebels. They fight for everything, so they fight for nothing.

We all hope you never become leader of any country with military power.

I have to say, I would hope that they could do something. I agree with Phoenix though, Nuke the fuckers. End this dumb 'war on terror' and bring about a new world order..I mean *cough* fuck them up!

That probably would not be good idea....you must use nukes wisely lol 8)

Yeah well innocent people living with terrorists aren't really innocent coinciding their allowing a terrorist regime to stay in their home. Fuck them all and nuke then and be done with it. However war is very profitable so it'll never happen. Nuke em and be done with it would actually show the terrorists we're done with you. Attacks on Paris wouldn't have happened if we nuked them, all those beheadings propaganda or not wouldn't be spreading terror. Innocents are doing anyways but I would rather them be future terrorists opposed to American, European, etc.
It may not be a popular opinion but it's one that would stop ISIS in their tracks. It would take a while for the next Al-Queda, ISIS, whatever. But no matter what there will always be terrorists but hit them at their core and it would be a while for them to rebuild. Once they do, nuke them again and repeat the damn process. They will never give up, but they would eventually get the hint that we will annihilate them once their cell gets big enough to catch our attention

‘Anonymous’ Nailed Down 3800 ISIS Twitter Accounts On The Next Day Of Warning -and they are finding more, I don't know if they really found them but if they do, what will govt do? I guess NOTHING.

If guessing passwords of arab twitter accounts is what they call hunting down ISIS, I expect nothing new from them... as always.

Well.... the NSA and FBI are mad because when anonymous exposed the Twitter accounts of ISIS members the company acted fast and suspended some of them. Really what anonymous is doing is pointless because the NSA and FBI could've used the accounts to read their messages which is one way they communicate and recruit :o

NSA and FBI probably just doing it without disclosure it. If they were disclosuring this, that would be pointless.

Well they have not exactly said it themselves but come on now it makes sense! why expose the accounts when the NSA and FBI were probably monitoring it but anyway I don't know who am I :o

Which is fundamentally why anonymous is useless. attacking without thinking, or any other plan helps no one. Even assuming that isnt a fluff number, do you think the next 3800 accounts will be so easy to get into? On top of it they KNOW the information is compromised, and can distance themselves from it. break into them and turn them over to an agency that has some clout(such as the French intelligence services, they are mighty pissed at the moment, they would of "handled" it). Instead they get to learn a "free" lesson in advancing how they conduct "business" that doesnt cost them any money, material, or people. GG Anon, way to show those terrorists!
As for dealing with the arab terrorist states....You have two basic problems. #1 holding a grudge is the national past time in that part of the world. they are STILL pissed at the EU for the crusades... While dont get me wrong a lot of "bad" has happened, including by the US the only real people they should still be pissed at is the US and Russia. Any other grudge should be far enough back in history to not really matter...and yet they hate the world. #2 Aside from their legendary ability to hold a grudge your other biggest problem is their total lack of humane values. Keep in mind many many years ago Arab countries were at the forefront of technology and science. They were a mecca for the enlightened. Yet since even before the crusades they have been at war with anyone who dare hold a different opinion than them. This is SO ingrained in every fabric of their culture that their is NO easy solution. Without a MASSIVE occupying force, and a true police state, and a few decades of "reeducation" their is no stopping it. While itph0nexuseses suggestion of nuking the bastards seems harsh, it is the most pragmatic solution. "if their is no one left alive to throw a stone...we win". At the same time its a shall we say "harsh" solution that will be unlikely to happen for a variety of reasons. Id say the best we could hope for is a giant DMZ around the area and just let them all kill each other for the rest of time.

has anyone said it yet?
something something not the 72 virgins they were expecting ;)
but seriously, someone wake me up if something other than skids getting lucky, FBI using anonymous as a front, or someone actually doing something neat and anonymous taking credit happens
-
I don't see what taking down twitter accounts of ISIS members can do.

Now, The Islamic State militant group (ISIS) has released a statement, responding to Anonymous’s declaration of total war.
They (ISIS) called Anonymous – IDIOTS

Sorry but the terrorists got this one right, anon is idiots. Proves what i said just above. "lets publicly disclose the accounts we got into so they adopt more secure policy's" *sigh* GG anon, even idiots that strap bombs to themselves are smarter than you.
@EZs newer residents - This is why "hackers" have always had disdain for "skids" and their ilk. It isnt just that a monkey could do what you do, its that a monkey would be smarter about how they do it. Their is no forethought or planning, all you do is make things worse, for everyone. Be better than the anon fags. THINK. Well im gonna get off this soap box before it collapses under my weight.
-
Can´t imagine anything new they will do....
But ok, it´s better than nothing i guess, right?
-
I used to enjoy their videos on youtube, guys with masks and weird voice with left-over background text from The Matrix, their 'high level' english and stuff.
At least they have a sense of drama. :P
-
I would liken their vids more to 6 year olds playing dress up than the dramatic revolution they wish it were ;D
It's not like Anons accomplish shit anyways, unless you're HBGary. I'm gonna guess ISIS doesn't coordinate their attacks through 5500 public-facing twitter accounts.

They use to. Twitter now has a security measure that targets ISIS accounts slowing down much of their public communication on the site. Now they just reference direct message or other social media accounts such as kik, facebook...etc. Rather than announcing publicly their malicious intentions since the twitter security measure can only target something that has already been posted.
-
Well as an Arab I do agree with iTpHo3Nix and Darkvision,
since yes the arabs are generally very dumb, not dumber than most murican's, but atleast murican's aren't blowing up shit everywhere, but history has proven that they can be manipulated quite easily.
If you want to nuke them go ahead, but stay far from lebanon or wait until I get the hell out of here, but we all know "nuking" is a rather "controversial" way to deal with the problem.
When it comes to Anonyshit, hacking into their twitter accounts, may cut a bit of the recruiting but these have magazines in multiple languages and websites, in france facebook is a widespread way to recruit and communicate, since most of the guys joining ISIS are stupid kids spending their time on facebook that everntually got manipulated, but a french journalist made a fake account acting as a women who wants to go to syria and marry a "mujahid", 2 days later she has 200 friends half of them already in Syria and the other half intending to go there. The problem there is that it's a known fact is that it's very easy for a gov to shtdown fb accounts, especially when it's about terrorism and the banner + feed of these guys are mainly ISIS propaganda. I could do a script to identify all the ISIS account for god's sake

They watched to many times a V for Vandeta lol

Slippery slope.
The day we start solving problems like this with nukes... we're gonna be needing a new planet. ::)
-

They're the NSA and FBI. Suspension or otherwise, they can still read the accounts' messages and info.
This will amount to nothing, really. Twitter isn't even the only channel ISIS uses to spread propaganda, they also make use of encrypted messaging apps such as Telegram to do the same. At most the people doing the radicalising will be temporarily inconvenienced, but it's not as if they've done the equivalent of killing Osama bin Laden.

Just an update.
Anonymous Has Shutdown 28,000+ ISIS’ Twitter Accounts Since OpParis Began

I'm reminded of the darpa project I think HD Moore worked on to test new grant paperwork, was basically a wardialler on speed built for about 50$ that could call every number in a given country in less than an hour. There was some amusing speculation about how many bombs in development one could set off by hitting cell phone triggers early. How long semi-random country wide cell phone calls would terrorists stand before abandoning that trigger method.
Other than maybe toying with that, there really isn't much a hacker could do to truly damage an organization like ISIS without discretely handing data over to authorities and letting them make the judgement call.
Even something 'big' but misguided like announcing the locations of ammo depots and training groups could easily, and likely, turn into a case of 'we already knew about that, and thanks for giving the terrorists a heads up when we had an OP planned in three days when a high value target would have been inspecting the camp, yup, real helpful anon'.
People like anonymous dont realize that in a true information warefare its impossible to be an independent and successful third party. If you could there would be literally ZERO reason for the CIA/NSA to work with the GHQ on ANYTHING. In an information war if you have an enemy, you HAVE to side with your enemy's enemies or else you simply risk helping your enemy instead. At least, if you plan to take objectable action with the data you gain.

I don't believe nuking people is the answer...it just fucks up land and seas and everything else for many many years. If global leaders really wanted to end this, it would just be a matter of days. But thats just not what they want...and as you said it yourself, they'll never give up and there will always be some stupid group that wants revenge. Political maneuvers must be made instead, but again...thats what I believe.

Fallout? Fallout?
Frankly, until human beings destroy ourselves entirely, we won't stop trying to destroy ourselves. We're too good at it to stop now
Indeed, dude...Fallout IRL! Unless they keep sniffing out the network for info about locations of TR cells and leaders or "trees of business", there won't be any real war on ISIS. If they're hackers, they should work on info. Actually taking down accounts helps in a way, shutting down their recruitment networks and cores. But if nothing bigger is done...it won't be of good enough use.
PS: this article explains a lot who's responsible and what should be done...at least for me http://thediplomat.com/2014/08/iran-didnt-create-isis-we-did/

I actually applaud people like th3j3st3r for his tactics when it comes to ISIS/ISIL/IS. Funnelling them into areas that are easier to monitor seems like the best way to keep tabs on them. It's sad that in this day and age we're still killing each other over religion, or at least saying we are.
