What is the reason behind your handle? I ask this because I am the type of person who struggles to come up or stick with names I choose, not just for handle names, but program, company or any other task that requires a name to be picked. I am interested in to why some of you chose the names you picked, also are there any of you with the same problem where you find it hard to pick names for things and continuously question yourself "Could I have picked a better name?".
My handle Katheudo is linked with sleep, the Greek word for sleeping. Random I know, but who does not like sleeping huh? ;D

Also, it is ok to use Tapatalk as it is the community that integrated it for use here, probably not a good idea to Leave that "Posted with Tapatalk on my phone <version-here>, but we are moving to platforms with APIs so rolling our own mobile APP won't be that difficult.

I don't know why I began using this name, but I've been using it for a while. I only use it on forums, and I have a completely different handle for online gaming.
For gaming I use the handle Kitarei, which I got from a combination of Atari and Kitana.

I used to make bombs for a local gang when I was younger and they used to call me tech. I went by techbomb or techbombanonymous on other sites, but shortened it to techb. Proper spelling is Tech B. , but meh.

iTpHo3NiX pronounced i-t phoenix. Although not my first or only handle, it's the one that means the most to me. The legend of the Phoenix is a mystical bird of fire that when it dies, it bursts into flames into a pile of ashes. From these ashes, the bird gets reborn. I stands for Isabelle and T stands for Tristen. Isabelle and Tristen would have been either the female or male name of my child that would have been born had my wife not miscarried. So for me it's a bit symbolic. As for the lower case/upper case letters it holds no significance.
BTW I know this thread had existed on EvilZone, just don't know if it was this rendition or one from the past

I'm not sure how short i can keep this, partially because ive used this name in one way or another for a LONG time. I originally started using this handle to write very dark poetry, so it started as a pen name. my "vision" of the world was "dark", hence DarkVision. But this really doesnt justify the name itself, so i feel at least SOME backstory is needed. Aside from the normal picking on any intelligent teenager has going on(and some girl trouble..sigh), i had a second issue that probably weighed in a lot more on my depression at the time: I was on Ritalin. Fun little known fact? It can cause a chemical depression(and hallucinations/tracing etc...) since no one had informed me of this fun fact..and i was suffering from all of the above....it was not a good time.
Despite this what i was most down about wasnt my peers, the girl fucking with my heart, etc. I was just so down about the state of the world, the just seemingly endless list of problems in the world at large. Just thinking about it is not a happy time. So "Vision" also really pulls from my vision of the world at large, the problems of humanity. So yeah, i guess thats where my name comes from.
Apart from that i first started going by this name amongst my few hacker friends as well around the same time since it held a lot of significance to me, and ive never really felt the need for a different nick...in 15 years. Which i know is rather rare. I do occasionally go by some other things, especially when gaming, but even their im often just DarkVision, at this point i damn near feel more at home with my "online" name than i do with my own. It has been through so much with me, grown with me, for over a decade. And in the end: the world still sucks.

If you want to know why I chose, "Insanity", look at how Albert Einstein put it, "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result." -Albert Einstein. Repetition is, and always will be a part of life whether you like it or not. You don't necessarily have to assume that nothing will change, but there is a fair amount of stability in what goes around us as human beings. Well, at least it depends on your perspective and how you approach it. Regardless, when people are approached with such a situation that questions their actions, some people tend to ramble on and not actually know what they're trying to say, which is what I'm doing, lol. So, I apologize for that. Moving on...
I am called many things and have gone through many nicknames because of how much I move and travel, meet new people, ect, so when I originally was going to pick the nickname, I had many to choose from. I usually use a single username for most of the accounts I have, (don't ask for it, I'm not going to tell you) and considering that this is a "Hacking and Security" forum, there was no way that I was going to be dumb enough to use the same username I always do. Also, I might have been using that username for a while and may be embarrassed by some of the older, dumb shit I've said before, lol. So, I went through just about every nickname I had, and tried to find one that actually decently represented me or at least how I thought of myself. Believe me, it was a grueling task and one I can't believe I took more than half an hour on. I kinda feel as if I'm telling a story now, yay! Welp, I eventually came across this name, "Insanity", which was gifted to me by a guy I knew for a short amount of time and I felt that it'd fit both my personality and what I aspire to be. (Yes, I aspire to be an insane person, don't hurt me.) I like names, making them, picking them, ect. I find it amusing to label something with words. It's almost like you gain control over them, or stealing their soul or lack thereof when you do, I don't know why, ask my guitar, "Goliath". xD
To answer you question of, "Could I have picked a better name?", I would say, hmm. Probably not. I feel as if that as long as you are satisfied with what you are called, (keeping in mind that your names directly influence how people perceive you, before they get to know who you actually are) you are fine. I like being called Insanity. I like people assuming I'm insane. I like it when people are shocked by things I say or do. Maybe I'm an attention whore, I don't know, all I know is that I'm completely happy with my name and it's preconceived notions that come with it. The only time you could go wrong is if you're a little 12 year-old girl and you name yourself "Beelzebub" or "Nosferatu" and then expect that people will assume you're cute and innocent and completely not a satanic ritual-seeking freak from some weird town in the middle of nowhere. That would be weird for both parties, and in that case, just don't do it I guess.
I like your name, "Katheudo", it's pretty and I guess it reminds me of my name, lol. I'm kinda interested in the actual reason you asked this question. Generally, people aren't just curious without some sort of benefit, in my humble opinion : P Don't you dare steal my name, else I will end you and your silly little picture of a motorcycle! well I've been using khofo for like 6 years, it all began when I went to Egypt, it's actually pretty simple it's the name of the biggest pyramid (the name of the Pharaoh buried there).

I though mine was clever but it looks more lazy lol I wish I could change it to something like 0-Kool or Crash&Burn but then I'll be just like the million others who has that name or a variation of it. If I could change it I might go with something like BlueScreenofFailure or YouFailWithWindows to show my rebellion against the corporate giant known as Micro$oft (or the company Bill Gates named after his dick).

I have a couple of different names in different places, I actually know a couple of names here from other places.
ShadowCloud is a bit of a combination of concepts that people have used to describe some of my other personas, cloud from a simile since I tend to try and distance myself from any one stance and quite often I have ideas (or ideals) that are a bit out there. The shadow part comes from someone voicing an obvious background of inflicting doubt and being a constant nuisance you can't escape, like trying to keep your shadow from giving you away when playing hide and seek.
In short I ask questions that ought to be asked, regardless of who presents an argument and regardless of the consequence of such question. I'm not on this planet for a popularity contest. (Or that's the whole point and I'm royally screwed, I'll take my chances though :) )
I guess those concepts once conveyed to me has kind of stuck.

Also a fun fact I realized months later the word means 'lazy bastard' in czech. Now that was unexpected

This is not my first nick. I did a lot of really stupid shit under an old nick. Some things were good, some were really really ignorant and honestly, quite immature. I'm not saying I've grown up much since then, but as time has gone on, I've changed. First, m0rph was my idea for a never ending rampage across the internet, then it was misguided vigilantism (my golden years), now it's just to find a meaningful purpose for my life. Thus, m0rph, doesn't mean any one thing in particular. Today, it can be one thing, tomorrow it could have a different meaning. That's the beauty of change. It's an idea that you can morph your life in any way you desire.

I choose B00m//s1ang as a handle for all my IT/programming/hacking work to divide it from my usual handle. Boomslangs are beautiful snakes that for years people didnt even know had deadly venom. They aren't inherently aggressive, but can be pretty dangerous if agitated. I tend to be good natured usually, but can get pretty wired.
I wanted to have BOOM! in my name. I thought it'd be neat to write it like code, with slang commented out just to emphasize the BOOM

I've been going by the same handle "zombie" since I was 6 years old. I'm not sure exactly why I chose it but the name kinda just stuck on me and now I have been with it so long that I am almost more responsive to it than my actual name, so there is no way I could drastically change it. It's gone through many metamorphoses and I have about three alternates that include numbers and other words (not gonna share exact names of course) because it is taken on most websites/forums, but in the long run, it's always something connected to "zombie". Younger in life I thought it was cool because it started with a z which is a unique letter, but later in life I've started to feel like it describes my general existential view of life and hardcore dedication to tasks (specifically programming) more and more. I've also, at the darker times in life, considered myself a philosophical zombie (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophical_zombie) because I was taught through my teenage years to not show emotion and to be a man by my conservative parents. But, I'm over that now.
I also love it as a username on this site, one with hackers, as it conveys a very sarcastic tone(one I am familiar with), given that a zombie (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_(computer_science)) is usually a term used to describe a computer that is used for grunt work while DDOSing and has been compromised by hackers.
So yeah, that's how my name came about and the effect it's had on my life.

The feels. I honestly used to be part of several other groups that I completely regret being part of now. In hindsight I mean. I didn't even really contribute anything but satire. Since then I switched nicks a couple times. This nick actually has meaning. It was given by a trusted online friend that I looked up to and sadly she isn't around anymore. But she saw how well I infiltrated networks and stole information almost like I had knowledge of the insides before I even got into them. Hence the nickname "architect" which is short for network architect.

Yeah same but it looks like others enjoy picking a name for a reason. I cannot believe how many responses this post got. Interesting though, I enjoyed reading why people picked their names.
