Just wondering what jobs all you guys have and what you'd like to be doing in the future.
I'm interested how many people here actually have a job in cyber security :)
I'm currently in my final year of A level but I'm hoping to go and work for some cyber security companies in my area when I leave.
p.s. Sorry if this is the wrong board :-\

I work in information security. There are a lot of different positions/approaches to working in the field. Currently I am in operations but would love to be in the pentesting/consulting sector.

So, welcome to the "valuated" certifications world! ::)
-
I am a malware analyst at an AV company.
-
I am currently an amateur failure, going to a failure college, hoping I'll get that failure diploma and become a professional failure.
-
Well, I'm employed as a generic workplace IT administrator in a kinda large (~300 workplaces) company, doing whatever needs to be done - tech support, user troubleshooting, computer repair, hardware repair, app development, all sorts of scripting on servers in all kinds of languages... The TV show "IT crowd" sums my job pretty well :D and it's my dream job... and I didn't go to any university or college.
But one day I'd like to try out a security-related job...

I'm a discount hooker
-
I'm pretty new in hpc. I'm just here for fun, picking up random knowledge. And who knows, maybe one day I'll work in a security related field.
-
I am just a security guard at a coal mining site. It's not anything fancy, but I like it. I really can't see myself in another job.
-
I work in disaster recovery and business continuity at the moment. Been about 6 months, my first IT job. I've learned a lot in a short amount of time. Currently chopping through a B.S in Cyber Security as well and hope to get the Linux+ sometime this year. Before this I was a security guard making shit money and giving people tickets for having their dogs shit where they weren't supposed to. Things have unfolded quick and couldn't be better. My pm box is open if I can help at all and also I should be on IRC more.

Working in IT. Before this I worked for a robotics company building law enforcement drones and raid bots. Was a great job for a 19 year old. Tons of programming. Sadly business got shady and now I'm in limbo jumping from one in-house IT job to the next. Can't wait to finish school end of next summer. Studying for certifications right now too. All I want to do is cyber security. Penetration testing is my favorite passtime. I used to be in Biology, worked at a zoo. But computers are the real deal.

I am student that does studenty things in high school. I would definitely like to work somewhere in the security industry. I quite enjoy vulnerability analysis and exploit development and have focused there so I hope to work somewhere in that field.

I do a few things.

#2 Styding Informations Technology at university.
#3 F16 simulator instructor. These are military grade simulators.
#4 Tacher in a youth club. This job is two evenings a week, where I mainly hang out with the kids, play some playstation, table tennis etc.

Do you take speed so that you dont have to sleep or what?

I'm currently a student and working mostly as web dev, which I love. I'm mostly developing Joomla! and Magento custom extensions and solutions and a web app every once in a while. Also a little bit of system administration and customer support, neither of which I like too much.
I like to write code so I spend much of my free time studying different programming languages and lately IT security. I'm hoping to get a job as a dev or in sec after I finish my masters degree.
-
I work at the university that I attend. I am a teaching assistant for the intro CS course. Additionally, I work as a research assistant in my school's Compiler and HPC lab.
And I have a part-time job working at a pharmacy.
I don't plan on pursuing a career in security. I want to do something with machine learning and predictive modeling/analysis.
-
I am a .NET Developer and want to clear certification for CEH or TESTER , Looking for the job change in Cyber Sec.
-

Nope, no drugs. But I don't have much free time on my hands.
-
I work in the Active Directory team and have been given the thumbs up from management to join a 2 year development program where I can choose four teams to spend six months with learning or getting certified in that particular area (networks team and getting a CCNA for example...). This is a huge stepping stone to a career in Security.

If you can pay, go to the OSCP... CEH is nearly a crappy certification. To demostrate your skills with a multioption test isnĀ“t the best way.
Regards!

Your work description could have been written by me :)
I love my job just because of the variety of tasks and atmosphere.

I just went into high-school, but its really cool how many of you have jobs in IT and deep interests in the great subject too.
-
I'm currently completing my highschool education online, but when I'm completely done with school I plan on being a game developer. But I really don't know entirely what I want to be yet. I know I definitely want to do something in computer programming but I'm just not sure if there's another realm of it out there I'd enjoy more.
-
I work at a restaurant. ;D But hoping to start at an I.T. job this upcoming summer. Also hoping to attend college and double major in Software or Electrical Engineering and Entrepreneurship.
-
Nope, no drugs.
That's what they all say.
-
I'm an IT security & PCI-DSS consultant.
-
I work as an Evidence Analyst at a Cyber Crime Investigation based Company.
-
College dropout, working in IT, also make pizzas and construction on the weekends. I aspire to finish school and get a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Currently studying Electrical Engineering. If I'd like doing it in the future, well I don't really know. However I do find it intriguing sometimes and I believe it can be quite useful.
I've discovered that I enjoy programming a lot more. So I will probably try find a job as a programmer in the future. I would also like to do both combined, like building and programming robots, but there aren't probably any opportunities to do something like that around here.
-
I'd like to do something with affiliate marketing. After I graduate I'm fully trained for the economy sector. But I still would like to go to the university and study something like IT.
-
Currently working at a help desk. I ultimately want to become a pentester

I would like to run a successful blog and learn computer programming/security as a new skill set for the year....in the next couple of years I would like to go to school to either become an RN or Medical Assistant...
-
Pentester by trade - but looking to broaden into C/C++ development with a view to writing custom tools to support this hobby - hopefully I will be able to share my results with the community :)
-
I hope to rule the world one day
