the next is youtube :(

Youtube can't be shutdown. It's must to important for many companies and even for political "propaganda". Also, censuring every "illegal" stuff on youtube would be practically impossible.

Off topic: It's good to be back to this community after more then 100 days!!

lol I don't know what kind of power would it take to take down Youtube. Certainly NOT these guys.

Only Youtube it self has the power, lol! And even then the company would be bought. To completely bring down Youtube, only a world wide scandal about theme would bring theme down.

I hope so. Because if something like that ever happens any time soon, we're all fucked. Who knows what will become of the internets.

Worst case scenario, something control by governments and big companies where the only think people can do is get exploited because they give up to must information about theme selves and because they will have to pay a lot for every kind of service or media.

I think that this dystopia Internet vision is impossible to aply. But I wont stop protesting!

Not quite. It's far from impossible, really. The internet will turn into something like an interactive television. Paid commercials everywhere. No airing/posting/using of copyrighted materials unless negotiated first. The big music/movie and entertainment industries in general will take over much of the web since most of the job opportunities that rely strictly on web resources will be pretty hard in those times. Imagine paying for every bit of images, music, etc. that you use for designing a website.

It's just a matter of time. Seriously. What's the worst thing we can do about this. Let's face it. Protest aren't really that effective. We need people from high places.

Indeed. I see your point. Maybe control over the Internet is not so difficult as I initially thought of it. And I agree with you when you say protests aren't really that effective.

I feel the open source community would become a lot larger if that's the case.

Wow. I wonder how long they were working to take them down. Had to have been quite a few lawyers gathering quite a strong case. It's just weird. I've never seen a site taken down by the government.  ???
