Looking at picking up a handgun. So far I'm liking the Glock 17 gen 4 and the Smith and Wesson M&P
See: http://us.glock.com/products/model/g17gen4 (http://us.glock.com/products/model/g17gen4)

How hard was it to get your concealed weapon license? I like the 17 rounds per clip

Not very, a class and some money, then a bit of waiting... (I live in texas currently) ;)

: Re: Guns
: lucid April 18, 2012, 06:35:54 AM
That would make it easier. The first one looks comfier. I personally would go for the smaller and lighter one. So I'd say the first one.

Thanks, You can never go wrong with a Glock  ;D
: Re: Guns

Word. I'd love to get a handgun. I guess the license is really expensive. How long did you wait?

I think it would be cool to get a shotgun. No license required  ;)
: Re: Guns

bout 2 months? and yeah, shot guns are cool tho I've always been more of a rifle and pistol man myself. I'd bet a sawd off shot gun would make for better home defense tho.

Pistols are the most fun to shoot I think. Harder, but more fun.

In my state you can carry a gun without any permit as long as its not hidden. On your hip in plan sight is perfectly okay.

The only gun I own is a beat up 4-10. I have a rather nice bow though, Grizzly by Reflex with a slam and a half cam system, wiskerbiscuit rest, carbon fiber arrows, and illuminated sights (peep sight) set at 30, 50 and 70 yards.

Back to the topic, glock would be my choice in hand guns. I like revolvers myself, but you don't need to take down any animals. Glock will do fine for dead beat thieves. I carry a switchblade, razor knife, and a boot knife on me at all timess. Two of which are well above 6 inches.

I was looking at compound bows for hunting, just for some added fun. I carry around a boot knife and a pocket knife. I wouldn't fight some one with the pocket knife, but the boot knife is pretty scary looking ;D  Also learned how to throw it pretty well.

I personally like .45 caliber handguns the best, like 1911's. Kimbers are really nice, but if you want a high capacity handgun and you don't care if it is 9mm then get a Glock, they are supposed to be very reliable and pretty much foolproof.

1911's are a little old fashioned for my taste, and i like semi's, not revolvers. lol

hunter's license  , hard  to  get if you  don't  have  friends  betwean  them ,2nd psihiatric  exam (head  exam that  you  don't shoot your self  or anybody else  IQ must  be  over 120)3rd is  an gun  ownership exam , 4th the police aprovall (means background  check in cases  of  violance or such) 5th is anual 5 round's  checkup by police  they  want for evidance compersion
if  no unless 2 hunters  can  garantee for  you  to  get that 2 year learning for hunter license your like  stuck  unless you  don't  work for  the  state  in  police  or  secret  service
we  talk  about  fire arms , not  airguns or defence weapons  witch  you  can  buy whit out  step 1 but the  rest  is  the  same  exapt  you  can't  use   them  unless  you  use  a  range

There are very few things in life that I consider to be as fulfilling as shooting a gun. No particular gun in mind as my favorite. Just wow, the feeling when you squeeze the trigger.  ;D

I so envy all of you.... my country's gun laws are designed to make sure that people cannot defend themselves  >:( .

You cannot import a weapon, whatsoever..
Getting a license... it is easier to get rid of promotional calls from banks than to get a license..
procedure >> apply, fill 100's of forms, get a meeting with SP or something.... means you have to *compensate* someone for their time, that is after you know right people, else forget it.

after all this is done, you have to pay many times the amount you pay for a top-end weapon for a crappy 19 century handgun, which does not look as if it can be fired without blowing your hand off.

if you had to ever use the gun, expect to visit the court for 10 years at the minimum, 40 years old lawsuits are not uncommon.

no. of registered guns in country >6,300,000
actual number of guns estimated to be >> 40,000,000.. nice !!

some time back the big-bastards decided that it would be a good idea to ban air-guns
somehow it got pulled back after a year.

Well, you can argue that ALL guns laws are meant to ensure people cannot defend themselves.  In the US gun laws only punish law abiding gun owners since criminals won't follow the law anyway.

well.. that is exactly the point...
a government of a country is a gang sanctioned by the majority of the people... it is not formed by everyone's agreement but of the majority.. In a way it is the biggest organization.. and a corrupt  one is the biggest criminal organization.

no guns = people acting like headless chicken...
guns + people = militia.

where  do  you  live ?

what he pl0tus said... although I am proud of the history of my country which at one time was ahead of all others in almost every field I am ashamed  of how things are currently done  :( ... all the potential is squandered...

I India is over populated I  don't  think  arming  people will do  any  good  because  weapons will  be  stolen , and the  is  still a  war , religios in  it's nature that  causes  victims
and  besides I  don't  thin  a  gun  put  in  the  hand a person  who  is  not  moderate is  always a  good  thing
can  you  hold a gun  in  your house  and  not  fire  a  single  round one year ? then  you  can  keep  a  gun  closed in  a  seif  bolted  to  the  floor  and  wall

the terrible thing is that the instigators are always armed... only innocent remain unarmed. By arming ourselves we can make sure that we don't go down alone.
