So how does everyone like 4.0? I've been using Minefield (the nightly builds) for a few months and they've been cool but all the my addons haven't been updated until recently. Now I'm completely happy with FF4.0
-
Awesome so far. Been running Minefield on Ubuntu for a while and switched to FF4 on windows when the RC was released (So a few weeks back) and I like it a lot so far.
-
FF4 is great. No problems with it, like it very much :P
-
There's a 4?
Anyways, can i upgrade to it without losing my bookmarks and saved data? Can't risk, need to know first.

Back-up, and try :D

Yes there is ^^ Atleast all my bookmarks got saved, but as Factionwars says, backup and try.
OT: I like it a lot, seems a bit faster than the previous version too?

Yeah, the main new features are the Javascript engine and hardware acceleration.
-
i installed it today, and i really fell in love with it.
UI is better than previous.
no crashes so far.

There are some security programming directives for web programmer (a.k.a CSP or Content Security Policy),,,

I've kinda stopped using firefox these days in favor of Chrome. It just seems better imo. Less bloated and a cleaner UI.
-
I don't really download and use RC stuff but I will make an exception and try this one out.I will be back to report. ;D
EDIT:I tried it and it's still slower from Chrome that I am currently using.Like the new GUI though , they really stepped it up a notch!
-
Strange, ff4 gives me big processor loads.
My whole windows get interrupted by it, like every x seconds 20% cpu.
(using a quad 2.4, so that wouldn't be a problem :P )
-
I like the UI, but it doesn't really seem any faster to me, or maybe it is so marginal that I can't tell. Still an improvement over FF3. Like Factionwars said, no crashes, which is definitely a plus, the older version used to crash on me every once in a long while.
-
I finally found out, the performance bug was an addon problem (skype)
-
Any opera users?
btw: ff sucks. Opera is much better. Nice design, easier to control, faster.
-
Opera is good.

Might be so, but Chrome lacks addons, which makes it (in my opinion) way worse than firefox.
I haven't tried FF4, was expecting my FF to self-update, I'll do it manually then.
Opera is nice, but I haven't used a lot, so really don't know the pro's and cons against firefox :O
-
I think that google chrome is better than firefox anyday!

I might with that when Chrome gets the addons Hackbar, Tamper Data, DownThemAll, and a proper AdBlock.

I don't like Firefox 4.0 at all. They made it look more like Chrome, and the reason I don't use Chrome is because I don't like the way it is arranged. Further more they put that eyesore of an orange menu at the top left corner of the window. Orange is almost my least favorite color.
I guess I'm very particular about things.

You know you can change it to look mostly like Firefox 3 right? I changed mine after a couple days because it looked too much like Chrome, I don't want it to look streamlined haha!

Oh really? I haven't played around with it much as I am still on Firefox 3 on my destop, I have it on my netbook which I just got though. Can you get rid of that orange menu though? That's really the worse part of it.
-
I use chrome because it works better with some google apps on a few of my sites.

Yeah just go into the menu and go to options and check the menu bar tab. Hope this helps!

Right click in a blank spot like under the orange button to get the regular customization context menu. From there you can enable the menu bar, show the the former status bar now "addon bar", and enable/disable tabs on top.
-
Ah cool, thanks guys, Like I said I haven't had time to play around with it yet, but ill defiantly do those things.
-
I don't like FF4, lots of addons still aren't compatible =<
Other than that doesn't look entirely bad, but I haven't yet seen a review comparing the performance and security of FF4 and FF 3.6.
@Odin
Drop Chrome, not addons, it finally was exploited, it barely has any advantage nowadays.
-
Never used firefox, I went straight from opera to chrome. Will probably use chrome until it dies.
-
I have been using FF for ages, and I still like it but is it worth changing to chrome?

Ignoring addons it's just personal preference. If you have lots of addons then no, don't switch. If you don't use many addons or equivalent addons exist in Chrome then it's worth trying.
