This is probably really dumb lol but is it legal to download/stream a show/movie that you rented if you delete it from your computer or whatever by the time it's due back?
I just rented series 2 of Sherlock and am at like the last half hour of the finale and I'm dying to watch the rest of it but I'm stuck at work with a broken dvd drive :'( . Anyway, that's what made me think of the idea haha. I doubt it's legal since you do not own the dvd, but I thought I'd get some other people's opinion and strike up a conversation.

I don't think you can get into trouble for streaming in general. The only time I've gotten letters or threatened by the film industry was when I actually downloaded something.
Although, I'm no lawyer.

It wasn't a matter of getting or trouble or not, just if it was legal.
-
well who the hell cares? If you keep it to yourself then no one has to know. Just rip it and watch it later...
-
That is illegal for sure. For copy the copyright material. But don't worried if you don't upload or share it through internet, there will be only small change for you to get caught
-
You are already doing very good by paying something to those rich people ;), so who cares?

Well, I've had a few letters sent to me and others who's wifi I've used from Lion Gate.
If you are paranoid, make a wifican or go wardriving for a night or two to get them.

if you have to ask if something is illegal, it probably is (: do it anyways. People shouldn't have to pay for movies or music. If it wasn't for the fans the artists and actors would be absolutely nothing. fuck the media
