Whenever i boot my PC CHKDSK trys to check local disk E but fails to do so and gives an error that some recently installed software package is faulty and to restore the system to a point before it was installed. I installed service pack one for windows 7 ultimate. I restored it back to when it wasn't installed. Still didnt work. I reinstalled my windows 7 ultimate and it STILL didn't stop.
PS it was a brand new hard drive my older one died :(

Would be nice to see what kind of an error it gives.
Usually chkdsk just checks the partition for incorrect file indexes and damaged or corrupt file system. If you do not notice anything weird that keeps you from doing your work, you can just disable chkdsk and leave it.
To disable it, write this in RUN or CMD:
chkntfs /x c: d:
(to exclude C and D partitions)

i dont notice any problem however the command u gave me isnt working and CHKDSK is still running
-
Then you did something wrong, and still haven't provided an error.
Also, moved to hardware section.

I quote the error: An unspecified error has ocurred (766fhc756d652e63 3f1).

Ok i may have a solution, i think the reason that kulvers command is not working, is that it's set to do it on the d: drive not the E drive. So try to change the part where it says "d" to "E" it should solve the problem.
Let me know it that worked?

that didnt work too but in a last half hearted attempt i entered chkdsk /f e: into the CMD and ime not getting it anymore! ;D
