ok so let me take you back to yesterday mornrin
i wake up at about 11am and go into my smoking room (i need to smoke in a different room :-X ) to have a reef and code. all good
at about 2pm my gf comes in and starts to moan that im spending to much time on the computer, we argue for a hile , i go watch some tv with her. everythig is fine. all good
then i go back to the next room code for a while, she comes in and starts moaning. then all of a sudden i get a glass of water in my face. bad thing was i was sat on the sofa with the laptop ......... i quickly unplug the power and remove the battery.
the next day i turn the laptop on , i goes crazy and starts beeping , i smack the keys and it comes on ... yayyyyy or not. now my keyboard is fucked up (turns out thats why it was beeping at the bios), random keys dont work, keys stick on etc.
about 6 hours later i turn the laptop on no beeping, keys that didnt work previously work now, i just hope it fixes itself
just thought i would share ;D

I once spilt over some cola on my father`s computer but a technician fixed it fast :P it was a full bottle of cola lulz
-
i have no cash, just using osk and hoping it fixes itself :)
-
it can... just let it dry properly. shouldn't plug it.. might've damaged it by plugging it on..
-
im still using it now , you think it would be better to turn it off ?
-
yes.. any remaining moisture may harm the system. it is better that you remove the battery and leave the laptop open for a week or so. keep it in a dry place with some air circulation and don't think about putting it in the sun. Nothing bad can happen by doing this so why not play safe?
-
its the only computer i have :( i can't wait that long , going to get a usb keyboard and hope for the best
-
hmm... you're willing to risk the computer? well that is your choice.
-
or disarm it and dry it whit a hairdry ur gf may have one
-
IF you are still going to use it, knowing there may be water still in it.....but cannot afford another one; we got a word for that: DUMBASS.
Don't be a dumbass and let it dry out before you turn it on again.

With anything electronic, if it gets wet, kill the power immediately. Remove the battery, and let it sit for at least a week. In your case, if it only got on the keyboard, it might not be AS bad. But if something was shorted, and your still using it, your going have long term effects. If the ICs don't go first, the passive stuff will. Shorted capacitors can cause damage over time, and shorted resisters will overheat and cause further damage.
At this point seeing how your still using it and don't really care, the damage is done, and will kill your computer in about 6 to 8 months.

Dump your girlfriend, I can see she's a bitch, and it is because of her the laptop is now fucked up. How can that bitch raise a hand on the computer?? -- I would chop it off.
If she does not like you sitting at the computer, she clearly do not understand the coders/programmers and what they do and how they do.

I want to agree so much. But the computer isn't the only thing around. I know from being married three years that being on the box 24/7 is not a good thing, especially in a relationship. Women are fucked up beings that require emotional support, not digital or logic. Being a code junkie or geek is a great burden. Finding the balance is the key.

Due to extensive research done by the University of Pittsburgh, diamond has been confirmed as the hardest metal known to man. The research is as follows. Pocket-protected scientists built a wall of iron and crashed a diamond car into it at 400 miles per hour, and the car was unharmed. They then built a wall out of diamond and crashed a car made of iron moving at 400 miles an hour into the wall, and the wall came out fine. They then crashed a diamond car made of 400 miles per hour into a wall, and there were no survivors. They crashed 400 miles per hour into a diamond traveling at iron car. Western New York was powerless for hours. They rammed a wall of metal into a 400 mile per hour made of diamond, and the resulting explosion shifted the earth's orbit 400 million miles away from the sun, saving the earth from a meteor the size of a small Washington suburb that was hurtling towards mid-western Prussia at 400 billion miles per hour. They shot a diamond made of iron at a car moving at 400 walls per hour, and as a result caused two wayward airplanes to lose track of their bearings, and make a fatal crash with two buildings in downtown New York. They spun 400 miles at diamond into iron per wall. The results were inconclusive. Finally, they placed 400 diamonds per hour in front of a car made of wall traveling at miles per iron, and the result proved without a doubt that diamonds were the hardest metal of all time, if not just the hardest metal known to man.

Just wanted to reply, I wasn't intending on breaking the laptop I threw it at him. And completely disagree with the 'self-centered comment as I sit alone looking after our three month old daughter all day long as my boyfriend sits on a computer 24/7, so really your friend 'bubz' is the selfish person, just wanted to put my point across

Lol, you don't know how many times I've heard this from my wife. It takes two though. You need to understand him better. Hackers and people like us are very different than you end-users. Computers are a way of life and a true passion. We can't just log out.
And I'm sure he does more than you give him credit for.

I can understand your point, I really can. I've been that guy, and my wife and I went through hell at times until we both finally grew up. (Well, I grew up....she was already there apparently - she told me so :D)
However bad his behavior may be it still doesn't justify your actions either. You know, the whole two wrongs don't make a right.....
What's next? Throwing a toaster at "him" while he's in the shower? ;)
Sounds like you two need to work some stuff out, and honestly....public forums are not the place for it. My 2ยข, anyway.

EDIT: Like I said I was tired, took me a while to figure it out...

Its 1 oclock at night and its been a long day, but I swear he was he?? Confusing post????
She logged in under his name to make a reply to try and justify what she did.

When I was 12 I had my first sexual experience. At the time, I lived in a little suburb outside of Cleveland and anyway, the girl next door and I were really good friends. Our parents were both gone for the day and she was over playing Transformers with me. So anyway, we kinda got.. Bored I guess? And we started playing truth or dare, which turned into 'you show me yours, I'll show you mine". So anyway there I Was, 12 years old, heart pounding, blood rushing in my ears, and the chick (who was a year older than me actually) takes off her panties and hikes her little skirt up. So What did I do, you ask? I whistled for a cab, and when it came near, the license plate said "fresh" and there were dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare, but I thought "naw forget it, yo home to bel-air!" I pulled up to the house about seven or eight and I yelled to the cabbie "yo homes smell ya later!" Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there. To settle my throne as the prince of bel-air.

I'm curious to know how you knew about this thread :P did bubz tell you or you are stalking him, snatching his passwords when he isn't looking? :P
Either way, what people said above is pretty much what I was gonna say. Techb said some golden words and Daemon has a really valid point.
I will confirm it by saying that coding or hacking is a lifestyle. You won't understand it unless you get into it. Also understand that in this era, it is important not to just learn, but to learn to learn fast. So coding or understanding some piece of technology takes time. You should be proud btw to have such a skilled coder for a BF, he'll make lots of money (hopefully xD).
