Is anyone else here using Linux Backtrack? Im having an issue where my sound isn't working. I went into the alsamixer, and found that it has the wrong sound card selected, yet when i change it to the correct option, it doesn't stick. Anyone know how to get around this?
EDIT: Ok, by chance, when i logged in there was a prompt asking whether i wanted linux to forget about certain audio devices (not the one that wasn't functioning) and happened to have a sound options button on the side of the window. When i clicked this I was able to prefer my USB sound device to the top of the list. Now, when i log on or off there is a sound, but it cannot be lowered in volume, nor is there a sound in anything other than log on or off. I raised USB sound device to the top of every category.

Moved to "Operating system".
When you say "it does not stick", you mean it reverts to what it was when you reboot, or what?

try go to system prefrences->startup programs
and add /etc/default/pulseaudio
or just from terminal ./etc/default/pulseaudio
worked for others i heard

I meant when i close the window it reverts back into the wrong sound card option.

Please try not to double post, simply edit your previous post. It's just considered polite on forums :)
Besides, if you don't fix it the admins will. AND theyll leave ugly red text lol. That stuff hurts my eyes....so please consolidate it into one post? Thank you :)

might help. Maybe not solve it for you, but push in the right direction perhaps?
Idk BT but i felt bad posting without helping at all lol. So that's my contribution :)
