Interesting little DIY project for those that could find it useful. It is possible to use the principle in other areas as well.

I have a friend that has been looking for something like this for a long time. Thanks for the heads up, maybe now I can get him to stop screwing around with cheap fake "AES" text encryption programs and get serious about secure communications. I was getting tired of having to look up an obscure entry in a thousand page code book lol.

This is kinda old news but cool none the less. I bet child porn is very prevalent with it though.
I bet one. using a RaspberryPi would be better and have options to make it more robust.

You better get to work then ;)
I like the idea that I can host files, take a portable router somewhere and share those files... I see this being popular in collage campus' and NAMBLA :D rotflmao

I have read its instruction, but i would like to know how it work. Can someone explain it to me please?

This is nothing more than a file sharing device with a GUI. It allows any users capable of connecting to a wifi network to be able to file share anonymously. The PirateBox doesn't log any information, has chat built in and allows users to hosts and exchange files locally without the use of an FTP or separate hosts. P2P local share.
Maybe the DIY page will clear it up for you. It is pretty basic stuff, but looks very well done.

I would love to build one but I can not for the life of me think of an example of when i would use it.

This is fantastic. Wow I'd love to build one.
I haven't read it all but I presume there is no internet access, just peer 2 peer?
I don't know how to explain as I'm not very good with networking.
I'd love to sit on the train and have one of these!
