: port 1247 recognized as visionpyramid?
: Polyphony September 18, 2012, 04:48:29 AM
I've been messing with this site for a while and I've portscanned it multiple times with nmap and tonight is the first time I've seen a filtered port 1247 so I did some research and it seems to me that this particular port is vulnerable to some types of DoS vulnerabilities.  is anybody familiar with what this port is used for?

here is the site I've been looking at just from a quick google search

Ports are not vulnerable to anything. The software using them on the other hand might be. But then again, any software can be using any port, so there is no guarantee that the piece of software you did research on is what is running on the other end of that port/address.

On top of that, if the port is filtered, there might be nothing there, there might be a IP filter there, there might be something else (nmap anomaly?).

gotcha :) thanks for the info.  might have been some sort of nmap glitchy anomaly, it's done similar things to me before.
