im look for a new distro of linux and i just need a lightweight version that doesn't take up that much space but that still has a few light program pre-installed on it like a GUI, browser, etc.
any suggestions?

I havent used it in ages, but DSL used to be pretty good.
Now I would recommend Fedora with LXDE, its lightweight, uses a lot less resources and is very fast.
-
archbang and crunchbang is quite lightweight. Not as lightweight as arch though.

Angstrom? Lol, you never specified a target platform, so I'll go with Angstrom. WITH bootloader can fit on 256mb NAND flash.
-
A little larger, but still small. Puppy linux, or even mint.

^^This for desktop/laptop stuff. I had DSL running as a media server on an old ass tower for the longest time.

I've had that installed in Virtualbox before. There's also puppy linux

God damn Puppy linux. I fucking love that distro. Very small, portable, fast as a rabbit fuck and with many, MANY tools and programs. Fits on my 2GB flash where I keep my documents and other stuff, and I still have more than half of drive space to use!!
