Went to the college to take a proficiency test for computer literacy(CIS 110) because I don't want to take that dumb shit. Pretty sure I passed because I passed every test except Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
Almost passed Microsoft Access even though I've never used it in my life.
Other tests I took were:
Computer Information Systems test(something like that)
Computer Information Systems test multiple choice
WindowsXP/Vista(because I know what the place where deleted files go is called)
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Powerpoint
Failed the shit out of Microsoft Excel :P . Fuck you I never use any microsoft programs. To me it seems a little unfair to judge someones computer literacy based on Microsoft office programs.
For example I failed Excel but using something like netcat or wireshark would probably be considered advanced for a computer class. Although I've never been to college before so I don't know. Anyway I'm happy about testing out of that class I'd probably kill myself with a blunt object if I had to learn how to use Word in school.
I suppose I could have studied beforehand ::) . (There needs to be an emoticon for hysterical laughter)

Nice job.
I've always hated how IT classes in schools center towards the use of Microsoft Office. Talk about monopoly in education.

Yeah as if the only thing people do with computers is make powerpoints and resumes. Not sure how I am supposed to feel if I do happen to get the results back and find out I didn't pass the proficiency test..
As a computer guy I guess I should feel bad but I literally almost never use Windows, and when I do I definitely don't use ANY of the programs they had me test on. Similarly I'm not sure if I should feel proud if I pass or just feel normal.

When you think about it, tons of people have a really hard time using such things (even the simplest).
What can feel very easy to you can be a nightmare for others. That feeling is really comprehensible...

I have taken an IT class in school to that had all the microsoft office programs, i acctually found excel the most interesting, i dont use the ms office but i know a lot of ppl who do so i thought it might be good if i need to give them support or tips, also when you get a job its required in sweden to know these programs, thats why they are a part of the classes.
And to "normal" people your computer skill level is based on how good you know office and internet explorer -.-
I did also know where the files go when you delete them, witch got me an A :P

Yes I find quite inappropriate to test someone's knowledge based on what Microshit has produced, on side note, is it possible to smuggle the test online so we can take a look at it (There needs to be an emoticon for evil laughter)
;D

Hmmm, I suppose I could look into it. I don't guarantee I will produce fast results though..
To your second statement.. there just needs to be more emoticons in general.

you feel sad???
We dont eaven have eny IT class in our schools.
Witch is why almost all the students either play games or chat on facebook with their pcs.
And i hate it.
Something about IT courses,
My sister didnt finish her ms office corse so i got to finish the course . And what i saw was 1 teacher teaching all subject. Graphic designing , MS office , programing, webdesigning , and so on.
And One day i saw him teaching photoshop v7, teaching skills that will only be need if you work in a photography store, thats what you are sapose to call teaching graphic designing. What a joke he couldnt eaven answer my questions about ms word. He used to say 'why do you need that' or 'il teach you that later.' It made of wana smash his lesser beaing type dum ass brain with the keyboard. Oh and thy had only 256 mb ram in each pc. Fuck them all. No wonder why my sis stoped learning that shit.

I don't see any reason why schools shouldn't use Microsoft Office in their computer literacy test.
Note that this is not a computer science test. Its a computer literacy test. It is intended to be taken by average people who just use their computers as tools to make their lives easier. And the most commonly used programs to do that in the world are Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel. I guess.
So yeah, those tests are gay but no reason to dislike them or call them stupid. They are simply not aimed at computer enthusiasts.

Next semester we are doing computer apps at my school. Someone asked the teacher if we would learn about computers. She said "You will get very in depth with computers! We will learn useful keyboard shortcuts, how to use Microsoft Word and Power Point, and other useful programs!"
Dumb bitch. She won't let me code either. She will, however, let women look up funny pictures on google images.. -_-

Rofl! It's funny how everyone thinks that the only thing computers do is run windows and mac.
