: [Request] Windows XP MCE (2005)
: Xtatics January 01, 2013, 04:04:02 AM
As an odd request as it may be, but do any of you have a 'legal' copy of XP 2005 ? I have a key and a Dell PC that has no restore partition anymore. Apparently the PC owner decided to wipe it and put Vista on the machine. Horrible idea. Ironically my legal copy of XP has grown legs and walked off and with it my CD key. I'd just toss Linux on it if it were mine, but the owner is PC stupid.

Download and install this

http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/7355371/Dell_Windows_XP_Media_Center_Edition_2005_SP2_ISO (http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/7355371/Dell_Windows_XP_Media_Center_Edition_2005_SP2_ISO)

Since it's a Dell you can use a Dell OEM disc and not need the key

I'll check it out. I've honestly steered clear of torrents for awhile. Even though I'm on business Cable, Comcast likes to be nosey and I'm not tunneling my connections.

Much appreciated, I have it going. Thanks for pointing it out though. A friend of mine had sent me one from MSDN but I really didn't feel like trying to do the customization needed just to install on 1 PC.

Update : Worked like a charm... well except having to find freaking drivers for the Lan and trying to get around all the BS just to update the damned thing. Thanks a ton. Now I can stop being bothered by my wife on this damned PC.

Just a quick reminder.

Slipping trojans, backdoors and stuff like that into a torrent is just brilliant.

That's why you download the torrents with the most seeds and make sure to read the comments :P

Aye, I'm aware. Don't care much. PC  isn't mine. The fact that they won't even attempt to learn Linux which I can setup pretty close to Windows (I haven't tried setting up Netflix Desktop yet) . So meh. I'm not getting anything out of this anyway, was just something the wife dumped on me from someone at her work. I clean up enough malware daily.

Just to be sure that your part of the biggest botnet, not some small one, that would be gay.

Netflix on linux doesn't work. Something to do with DRM.

There is a 'hack' for it.

https://launchpad.net/netflix-desktop

I personally haven't tried it, mostly because my own PC is using an Nvidia card which the driver's were only working part of the time anyway, so I mostly just run windows with a VM of whichever distro I'm using.
