So I have Slackware 13.37 and want to configure the network settings but I seem to be doing something wrong, I've followed some tutorials online and it doesn't seem to want to work. I have the guide straight from the Slackware manual but it doesn't work. Is there a simpler way to do this?
Like using iwlist or something?

disable selinux and firewall if you know how it's done , but first check whit Ip as you may need it static or some way of connection like ppoe , vpn , etc.

After I've configured it do I keep selinux and the firewall disabled or no?

if you can't configure them right disable them

What manager are you using to configure your network?
By default there is no firewall except for iptables.
