: How do you get into robotics ?
: pllaybuoy January 31, 2013, 09:09:41 AM
I wanted to know where the field robotics is derived from and is there a bachelors course for that? Like you have software eng, mechanical eng, mechatronics etc
If not then what do you need to do bachelors to get into robotics? I am pretty confused since it requires programming, mechanics and also electronics to create even the most simplest robot .Consider one that walks like a human?
I will just prove my ignorance here :/ So how do I get into it? I don't want to software eng. in my college(bachelors degree). I am more interested in mechanical & electronics (I guess mechatronics would be a good field for me since it contains part of these both) but what about robotics, how do i get into that?

Robotics are tought in electronic engineering. And i have no idea about mechatronics, never heard it.

Like sn0w said, electronic engineering would be the way to go. There you will get the hardware, math and low level as well as c/++ programming you need to make robots.

I thought it would be assembly programming because robotics might require code that is really code to the hardware and assembly would be the best choice for it.
Anyways, so you mean I should do electronic engineering to get into robotics, right?

Yes, EE. You will learn analog and digital circuits. From there on to microcontrollers and embedded systems. Some stuff is done with assembly, but the norm is C.
