: Stackprotector February 12, 2013, 07:59:33 PM
Hi guys,

We had a great topic from "lucid" a while ago where we discussed lucid dreaming. Now is any new guy experienced? Or did anyone continue.

I did, and i had great experience's for like half a year, then i dropped it for a little time. Now to begin the topic, dreamviews.com is a great forum about this. Lets discuss, Dreaming, how well do you remember them?

Mhm. That would be a dreaming that you dream that you think you dream . What is not an actual thought enough to break out of the dream mode and get into lucidity.

I actually haven't been lucid dreaming for awhile now sadly. One here and there every once in awhile though. Too busy to put enough focus in it which makes me sad. Although last night I had one actually. I didn't really affect my surroundings but I remember the dream becoming clear as real life and I started walking around my surroundings freely as though it was the real world. I remember looking for someone.

Not sure who though.

Yeah it's really something that you have to keep focusing on in order to maintain. It's funny that you started this thread now. I just recently started reading an old lucid dreaming book I had in order to hopefully get back into it.

What book ? :)

I've posted it here before(although I have it in paperback). It's an old book about a mexican indian's apprenticeship with don Juan an Indian sorcerer. There is a whole series but the last book of the series is pertaining to lucid dreaming. It's really a great help. Even without actually doing any of what the shaman is teaching the apprentice, just the act of reading the books inspires lucid dreams in me. It's how I learned pretty much everything about lucid dreaming. Well, aside from personal experience.

It's called "The Art of Dreaming" by Carlos Castenda.

http://evilzone.org/ebooks/carlos-castaneda/msg35567/#msg35567

I'm pretty sure I included the whole series in there.

Aha, I got back into lucid dreaming a couple of weeks back but then dropped it again :P

I always know that i'm dreaming... No control though ... the thought of controlling it never confess to my mind... Then I regret it in the morning.
: Re: Lucid dreaming revived
: lucid February 13, 2013, 05:46:55 AM
That's one of the hardest steps I think..

Although I've been wrong before.

I remember very few dreams from my actual sleep. The most vivid and memorable dreams I have are the ones where I woke up for a couple seconds and then went back to sleep for about 10-15 minutes, and I can remember things down to the detailed texture on a pebble with those.

lol once you know it's a dream, everything just becomes more awesome. Few days ago I had this dream where I go in a temple like place, and there are so many cats. But the cats were BARKING! Now that's not right. So I knew it was a dream. I imagined one of the cat turning itself into Jenna Presley. I motorboated her. It's fun. :D But I start loosing control after this. :/

BTW I get tired after waking up. Is it normal?
: Re: Lucid dreaming revived

I don't think that's directly related to lucid dreaming. Then again it depends of the person.
: Re: Lucid dreaming revived

I never was able to take on lucid dreaming, I'm not sure whether it was a lack of motivation or I just never got around to it. But last summer I spent 2 weeks in Canada, and every night before bed we would do Yoga for 30 minutes, and then a Yoga instructor would guide us through a trance that lasted about 15 minutes. Only 2 or 3 out of 10 of us were actually able to do it effectively, me being one of them. Now every once in a while I lay down in corpse pose and spend about 2 hours in my trance world thing (which is really between 15-30 minutes, but when your in a trance time feels different to you, so it's like 2 hours). Of course, you have to know how to do it properly or you could damage yourself physically and mentally. As lucid knows, I was abruptly woken up in the middle of one and became very sick. I couldn't leave my bed for 3 days.

Sorry about being so off-topic, but I felt it kinda fit in. I'd like to get a start on lucid dreaming, it sounds like a fun experience. If I remember correctly, one of the first steps is to do something repeatedly (like look at your hands or a digital clock) throughout the day, and then you will start to notice the action happen in dreams, right?

BTW where even did the original topic go?
: Re: Lucid dreaming revived
: lucid February 22, 2013, 04:08:11 AM
Yeah that's a popular technique. Doesn't have to be your hands. Just look at them intermittently throughout the day when you are doing something mundane and when you do ask yourself, "Am I dreaming?"

Eventually you will notice that you will start to do this during sleep and it should trigger lucidity.

I can do it, but it seemed pointless as there was no challenge or goal to it. Sure, you can fly and make fireballs and stuff... but why?

Why not? You never know what you could achieve, maybe you'll stumble upon the secret of using 100% of your brain consciously. Maybe you'll find out that you can use it to excel in real world subjects. As far as challenges go, I find it a very hard challenge to be able to do it. I'm finally starting to get somewhere, my dreams are becoming realistic and I'm having some conscious thoughts in them, but as far as memory goes I can barely remember any of them.

I rarely dream and when I dream, in the morning either I forgets 90% of it or either I remember around 30-40% of it.

Idk if you smoke or not, but marijuana is notorious for stifling your dreams. After I quit it was one dream after another, almost nonstop.

I don't smoke, drink, take weeds and stuff like that.
I believe in simple life and high thoughts.;)

By pulling them out of the ground? :P How can you say there isn't a challenge in lucid dreaming? Just go exploring in your dream world, I'm sure you'll come across something :)

The biggest point around lucid dreaming is understanding and subconscious exploration.

I personally only managed to have lucid dreaming once. It was SO FUCKING AMAZING I woke up in literal tears of happiness. I don't remember exactly what was the scenery, but I do know for sure I was "floating" somewhere in space staring at various stars, black holes and other crazy stuff.

Unfortunately I was confused as to what was happening that I did something in the dream (I think I punched myself in the stomach or something painful like that) which instantly woke me up.

I would love to be able to do that again, but alas since then I haven't been able to.

FINALLY got somewhere last night!! Didn't manage to do much but it was awesome. It started as a normal dream, it was a terrible situation between me and the cops, my parents had me arrested, but I was conscious the whole time and was able to change a minimal amount of things, I didn't realize I was having a lucid dream until about halfway through it. As soon as I realized I could change everything, I tried to kill my mom xD. I threw a bottle of honey (the bottle was already there on the table) and made it explode, yelling random bullshit at her that she didn't respond to at all cuz she was too busy not making any sense.

One thing I noticed about it, you don't move like you do IRL. You have to think about moving and it's almost like you're in third person. If you try to physically move you'll wake up. I didn't really feel pain either, I could feel but when things hit me I just felt it, it didn't hurt.

I'm really excited about this now :DDD

you're in third person

I seem to remember always being in 1st person. I do remember dreams where I have been in 3rd person so maybe the view you're in before you go lucid is the view you continue with...maybe you can change it.

Well, it was first person, it just felt like it was third. Like if I were staring at a computer screen that was capturing the first person view of someone, except that screen took up the entirety of my vision, if that makes sense.

Whenever i lucid dream, the second i realize im actually dreaming, the dream world seems to start to fade more and more. Its hard to explain, but gradually ill start feeling myself in my bed and wake up. Especially when im making movements. Once i realize im dreaming, i can never stay dreaming very long. :(

Never worked for me.

The closest I got was when I realized I was dreaming I heard a strange noise then woke up in an instant.

That could be due to either you thinking too much or trying to move physically, you can't exactly slow down and take a look at things when your just starting off or what you described happens. At least, that's the way it is for me.

If your dream starts to fade then try spinning around or look up and shout out "A little longer" or something to that extent. What I usually do is imagine pillars rising out of the ground and holding up the ceiling which keeps the dream going.

Yes. Try shouting that's always worked for me.
