: Rainmeter Themes
: Corrupted_Fear March 25, 2013, 03:38:52 AM
Hello EZ,

For the past few days I've been kind of bored and have gotten back into rainmeter a little bit, but I have run out of ideas I would actually enjoy to work on. Long story short, I am offering to make a rainmeter theme for anybody who would want one. Free of course, just give me a wallpaper or specific theme you want to follow and the screen size. I am no da vinci of rainmeter, and never design my own graphical designs (I alter the code of existing designs to fit what I need), but I am able to alter/blend wallpapers. Here are some examples of what I did, the last two being what I did over the past few days. I am most proud of the third one, its my favorite so far. Thanks for your time, hope you like my work, enjoy :)

I have some ideas and I'd like to have you make one but I find rainmeter to be a pain and it slows down your computer a bit..plus I don't know how windows 8 will react to me attempting to install it, sounds sketchy

yes, it is a pain and definitely slows down your computer. That is a down side, so I just tie a kill script to a hotkey (ctrl + F12 for me) when I want the resources back. Also, I am running windows 8 (came with the computer) and it works fine, no issues so far.

Well I suppose it is a desktop app and never did affect the start menu anyways so that makes sense. Meh, maybe if I get another computer to fuck around with. This is a really nice one and I'd like to keep it as clean as possible, I'm constantly cleaning it up and keeping it updated. NVidia video cards are a pain in the ass >.<

Ik what you mean, I have a radeon card and the newest update screws up my entire sound config, so I still haven't updated. I think I may be a bit OCD about updates, checking constantly for them, so it actually bugs me that there is an update but I can't get it xD

Yes exactly! I have a GeForce 550M that's equipped with 3D, but the newest update isn't even compatible with windows 8, so I had to download a 2 version old driver and do all this other shit, it took me roughly 5 hours to get it functioning as well as it was before the update. Another reason I keep the computer clean, I don't wanna mess anything else up. Like those printer drivers... -.- I still haven't gotten rid of those, they're only like half there so I can't uninstall them because they "don't exist".

Dang, there are few things I will sit down and spend a continuous 5 hours on, but I believe trying to figure out what happened to my sound on my old computer is one of them (it was the radeon drivers, just didn't realize it at the time). I go through the add/remove programs are and uninstall anything I don't need, and if I don't recognize the name I Google it and see if its useful, which it usually ends up not being, some fax drivers from a 2003 machine or other crapware. I also have a 3rd party firewall, which has actually caught some connections I didn't initiate (idk if they would of done anything, but still). I just like to keep my computers free of anything I don't use and am a control freak when it comes to network connections.

You described my weekly life right down to them little details, as far as this computer goes. As networks and OS's are my strong point, I tend to play with that stuff alot. Of course I'm also studying for my CompTIA A+ certification, so microsoft software in general is my strong point, as much as I think they suck. Regardless, it's a useful cert to have. Anyways, I usually just let McAfee handle the tedious stuff and monitor where I go on the interwebz and what I download, then I delete useless files or move what I'm too lazy to deal with to an external harddrive in my personal "shit" folder that I delete every once in a while after I determine that I'll never need anything from it. Oh and since you mentioned sound, another issue I came to after I got my video card working, was the drivers for my audio. I needed the correct Realtek drivers, and they needed to be installed jointly (and in the correct order) as my NVidia drivers. Luckily I already knew what to do for my video card, so that only took me about 45 mins on a later day. Still have confusion about this little touchscreen bar I have near the screen though..it has 3 buttons, one goes to some settings control panel, one is programmable, and one opens my Realtek audio control panel, but since the upgrade it doesn't work, and I'm not sure what to do about it. Never used it anyways, so that's no biggy.

I think all of us here are pretty much that way with our computers. I use windows and linux about 50-50, windows because I game alot (although steam is slowly moving toward linux, yay!) and I do computer repair on windows machines as a side job. Im currently enroute for my CCNA cert, but haven't really had time to focus on it because of the rest of my classes. Ill have to look into the sound and video drivers, just set a weekend aside and do nothing until I get it working, I always end up learning the most from when something breaks... and touchscreen keyboards can be awesome, but currently mine is horrible. I have a Razer Lycosa (never again) where the media touchscreen freaks out occasionally (at the worst moments) and locks down the keyboard, playing 3 sec of a random track and then moving on to the next one. Its a hardware problem that is common in a good amount of lycosa keyboards, but razer refuses to fix mine because I bought it off ebay. :\. Live and learn I guess.

I'm fairly new to linux and I'm using my desktop computer to learn the basics of it with Ubuntu 11.10, I wanna be able to use it casually while still learning what linux is about. I have no clue what the deal is with this touch keyboard, it's built into the laptop so there's not much I can do about it hardware-wise. But like I said it doesn't matter all that much.. I'm getting a Razer Blackwidow soon from my friend after he gets his new keyboard in the mail. He owes me some money so he's gonna give me his keyboard and pay for a snowboarding trip for me. That's a good tip about the Lycosa though, I was interested in it for a while because of its sleek look + the functionality.

Off-topic: Corrupted_Fear don't worry. I got a Lycosa Mirror for my new desktop from Razer and when I sent it back for RMA they said nothing's wrong with it... I have the same problems as you. No more Razer for me, fuck those guys.

Silenthunder: as you can see, razer is not known for their quality in keyboards. I don't know about their mouse or headsets, but I am never buying another keyboard again. If you wanna pay that price I would go for a CM storm quick fire or something along those lines. What I plan to get when I get some money:

Mordred: yea, ik. I remember I was so excited to get an official keyboard from an official gaming company, thought it would be perfect in every way :\ I'm going for a good mechanical keyboard next when I get the money, def NOT from razer.

last Off-topic, I promise :P : Exactly the same here. I'm probably gonna buy the new Mionix kboard when it comes out. I already have their mouse, the Naos 5000 and OHMYGODBROITSSOCOOL :D

last response to offtopic post: Never heard of Mionix before, googled, found the answer to life, the universe, and everything. It's all so.... pretty.... The keyboard looks nice, but I still think I want the Nighthawk. Has lots of reviews saying its an amazing keyboard, and it matches my desk and computer lighting ^^.

Different last off topic: I've had experience with their mice and headsets, as well as their xbox controller (onza tournament) and I love it all. Only problem I've ever had with them is the left trigger on the onza is prone to failure after a few months, and it happened to me.

On topic: I have a friend who wants some rainmeter skins, I'll come up with something for you to base a couple off of.

And awesome, just let me know, thanks!

Haha we filled up almost an entire page.. I won't be able to get with him until wednesday so I'll have him get some ideas ready by then. Expect deep space stuff and anime.

We have some serious off topic time wasting skills. I don't know much anime at all, I just liked that one particular. Deep space on the other hand.....

This isn't even my final form.. I have seen over 50 anime and my friend has seen exactly 136, all in lengths ranging from 12-500 episodes. My 2 faves are Angel Beats and Clannad, both made me cry D: but 2 the new ones, Shin Sekai Yori and Blast of Tempest, that I've been watching are really good.

I haven't seen a single one. I never actually sit down to watch a tv show, ever. The only series I follow/ have completed are Firefly and Doctor Who, anything else becomes a chore trying to watch. So for the anime just give me a wallpaper to work with, or something that I can google and figure out what I need for the most part..

The anime thing is super easy, just keep it simple and a little colorful, and for this particular case REALLY cute. Thumbs up for Doctor Who :D I don't follow any reality shows though, just anime cuz I usually tend to finish a series the day I start it.

simple, colorful, and cute, Ill start exploring some ideas. I'm honestly not sure that I know exactly what a reality show is, I've heard about them and I've heard people complain about them, but never cared anywhere near enough to actually look into them that much. I did that with firefly, finish it fast, I finished it in a week (which is really fast for tv watching for me).

I consider a reality show anything that's real and not animated xD I know it's not accurate but yeah

So shows that show live action but have no story line, like virtually anything on the history or discovery channel? Because I don't think things like Doctor Who or the like would be considered reality shows, or maybe I'm completely off :\

Technically shows like Doctor Who and stuff aren't reality shows, that's science fiction, but like I said, I consider anything that's not animated reality o.o
