I'm not sure how short i can keep this, partially because ive used this name in one way or another for a LONG time. I originally started using this handle to write very dark poetry, so it started as a pen name. my "vision" of the world was "dark", hence DarkVision. But this really doesnt justify the name itself, so i feel at least SOME backstory is needed. Aside from the normal picking on any intelligent teenager has going on(and some girl trouble..sigh),  i had a second issue that probably weighed in a lot more on my depression at the time: I was on Ritalin. Fun little known fact? It can cause a chemical depression(and hallucinations/tracing etc...) since no one had informed me of this fun fact..and i was suffering from all of the above....it was not a good time.

Despite this what i was most down about wasnt my peers, the girl fucking with my heart, etc. I was just so down about the state of the world, the just seemingly endless list of problems in the world at large. Just thinking about it is not a happy time. So "Vision" also really pulls from my vision of the world at large, the problems of humanity. So yeah, i guess thats where my name comes from.

Apart from that i first started going by this name amongst my few hacker friends as well around the same time since it held a lot of significance to me, and ive never really felt the need for a different nick...in 15 years. Which i know is rather rare. I do occasionally go by some other things, especially when gaming, but even their im often just DarkVision, at this point i damn near feel more at home with my "online" name than i do with my own. It has been through so much with me, grown with me, for over a decade. And in the end: the world still sucks.

I am DarkVision and i approve this message.

Lots of servers to choose from. Also through VPN, USA and CAN servers don't allow tormenting.

As I use the service longer and more, I'll update this review. Now it's time to go spam coldfront and piss off KingWilliam in #invicta

I thought they didnt allow tormenting? :P Aside from the typo, good to know.

"So I swap processors between the machines and my machine is able to POST just fine with her processor but her machine does not POST with my processor."

You misread the post, the processor in question worked fine in his machine, both processors failed on the machine with issues. Ergo, the processor is not the problem here, either the motherboard is, or some unrelated issue is.

oh shit so i missread it. rofl. #smooth. yeah in that case it does expand what could be wrong, including the PSU not putting out proper voltage to the MB. So yeah either swap a different PSU into the system or the whole setup mb/processor to yours. My bad on that.

Beginner's Corner / Re: Kali Linux - Arguments for a little newbie!

Really? I thought you could get away with using the tools if you used the sudo command and not be root?

Their may be a way around it, and i would argue considering its linux their is, but to me the simplest/easiest solution is just to install the tools you want/need and fuck the rest of that noise.

Dont get me wrong i can see the advantages of kali on a live USB, since you can boot any system into your tool set, but you could do the same still with any other distro and the tools you want, with greater compatibility, and more out of the box control. IMO the ONLY argument that can be made is as a company using it for pentesting since its a "known" environmental variables. For any home user id say set your own shit up.

Anonymity and Privacy / Re: Setting up anonymity
« on: November 26, 2015, 03:34:19 pm »
Guys, you do realize at the end of it, this is all extremely pointless?  Even if you find a VPN or a proxy provider who doesn't keep logs themselves, their ISP is required to do so by law...

They don't mention that part in the marketing material.

Insider provided some valuable input, this really depends on the threat level you are up against.
To become completely anonymous is not impossible, just something that requires more than software, you'd literally need to go make changes to the exchange, something the service provider is likely to notice at some point so you'll also need to be smart about it.  That being said, it's hard, impractical and extremely unlikely you'd need it.

As a dear friend of mine used to say : "If you do stupid shit, stupid shit will happen to you"

It depends on the country, which is why when choosing a proxy/vpn you should not just be familiar with the company hosting it, but also the country's laws it resides in.

anyway @OP check out the anonymity thread, their is a reason it is a sticky, this has all been discussed in GREAT detail, time and again.

I'm still on the grind with Kali, but wouldn't it be fine to run it as a different user and the sudo command? I know it doesn't work all the time, but it could be a viable option.

sure. so long as that user is root.

What's the model of the motherboard and the cpu? Assuming you have everything connected properly, it sounds like the motherboard simply doesnt support the chipset or whatever your cpu uses.

"exact same processor" if its the same processor one works the other doesnt, its not a chipset problem, his processor either got shocked while putting it together or was DOA to start with.
