Game Hacking, Modding & Discussing / Re: Game from your childhood
« on: October 26, 2015, 09:08:58 pm »
My fave games of my childhood were The Sims and The Sims 2 and also Warcraft III, especially the original Reign of Chaos one.

Never owned a gaming console ever so those are very much lost on me.

Enya's instrumental tracks are always a good thing. This is my favourite of them all:

I mostly include my sysadmin/automation code in my portfolio or at least in my resume but I also mainly work for information security companies which puts me in a lucky position.

For Mac OS, there is a python shell already built in within the operating system. But you can install the version on the website as well because I think the one that's bundled is already quite old.

If you want to work in a Unix-like environment in Windows, which is what I do personally, I recomment Cygwin64 and installing a Python package.

Operating System / Re: Win 7
« on: October 26, 2015, 08:06:40 pm »
Currently on a Macbook and I don't think I can go back to windows unless necessary. Work still uses windows 7 and is quite a workhorse to be honest.

My brother has Windows 10 on his new laptop and while for me it's okay it's quite a learning curve coming from 7.

My co-worker recommended Mr. Robot to me once. I'll try to find some time to check it out when I'm not sleeping during the day.

Beginner's Corner / Re: Looking for the best programming language?
« on: October 26, 2015, 08:02:28 pm »
A lot of people argued for C as the language to start because all the foundations are there: logic formation, syntax, semantics, etc. and it's easy to adapt to other programming languages afterwards. But IMO the best programming language to learn is whatever you're comfortable in.

I learned C through high school and college and that resource seems like a pretty good guide for self-study looks like.

I would be using Linux full time if everything wasn't so damn dependent on Windows (including work and personal applications I need)

General discussion / Re: "Speed-reading"
« on: October 26, 2015, 07:48:24 pm »
Speed reading never really worked for me. I forget even if I try to read intently. Relied on speed reading quite my whole life and it left gaps on my knowledge so now I try to really intently focus on something, as hard as it is.

My music tastes range from Fleetwood Mac to Enya to K-Pop. Right now I have the Tusk album on rotation.  8)

Wow those are all really cool desktops. Would post mine but I'm on a boring Windows work laptop at the moment so no dice yet.
