Keyboard Problems
« on: December 17, 2013, 05:46:47 pm »
I got a new keyboard and I'm certain it's not broken. My escape key won't work, however, I don't have Photoshop or anything. I know it works because it works with key combos like ctrl+esc and such. Please help. I have googled and this is my last resort.

It is possible that the keyboard is broken. Try to install drivers for it, if that won't fix it, bring it in for a replacement.

It is a coolerstorm devastator. I'm running windows 8.1. And I tried it on other computers and it worked so I think it's a registry problem. :-\

Did you check the device manager for driver updates like we suggested?

Yes I checked the driver updates as you said. Anyways I resolved the problem. It was a bug caused by my webcam drivers. After I uninstalled and reinstalled the camera drivers the escape key worked again. Thanks for your suggestions though. ;D

Interesting. How did you come to a conclusion that it was the webcam drivers that were causing all this commotion?

The camera has already caused a bit of problems on my computer.  Therefore,  I decided to test my problems based on the camera drivers and I realized theu were outdated.

Just hammer it a few times and pray that it starts cooperating.  :P

Just because something is new doesn't mean that it will always work. Some products don't go through a QC process, and some manage to make it through a QC when they shouldn't have, otherwise they get damaged after a QC.

I would hope that you still have your proof of payment, whatever that may be, and I'd take it back. :) There are no odd Windows features that disable your ESC key for convenience AFAIK lol.

AFAIK they do not test every piece the factory produce. They produce in batches and they test a few samples from a batch. If those samples pass, then it means whole batch is ok.

That is true too, then the QC sticker just goes on everything from that batch lol. Keyboard is missing a key? That's okay because another keyboard from the same batch passed! Machine failed after the first few went through lol :D
