German shows

I'd like to start watching some German tv shows or movies to try and pick up the language better.

I don't like soap operas or reality crap. Cartoons are cool though.

And I don't really get what you want, when looking at your post, but I'm assuming now you want some suggestions on what to watch...:
You should try stuff with easier language, as you already said cartoons are a good start. An idea would be to watch a movie you know well, so you already have an idea whats going on, wich could make understanding the german stuff better...

Cause why not? There is a slew of different languages out there, so I just picked one. I like the way it sounds and my grandpa/opa is German.

Yeah some movie titles or favorite TV growing up and stuff. Finding a movie I already know in the language is a good idea.

Ich finde schon, dass Deutsch eine schöne und sehr vielseitige Sprache ist So viele Möglichkeiten ein und das Selbe auszudrücken. Die Rechtschreibung ist evtl. etwas kompliziert.

Thanks for the links. My wife loves both them shows. She also likes Chowder really well too. I have seen them, but never really got into them. Not that they're bad or anything.

I agree. I think the spelling is going to get me the most though. Even in English I suck at spelling. And the tool I'm using is harsh with spelling. If I miss 2 letters it's wrong. But, I'll learn lol. I'm trying to focus more on the spoken aspect anyway.

I was thinking like maybe once a week we can skype and go over the lessons I study for the week. We'll need to find a good time for both of us, which I'm pretty flexable cause of no job.

I have the app and signed up. I would recommend it to anyone, at least for now. I'm just glad it's free. The only thing I don't like about it is my mic don't work on it under Arch, but it did with Babble. The mic on the app works though, so not a huge deal. And it is strict on the spelling. Like if I put, "ihc bin ein Mann" it flags a typo with "ihc" and is still correct. But if I do "ihc binn ein Mann" it marks it wrong. But meh, it'll do lol.

TV shows like FamilyGuy and Futurama are good. IDK if they are in German though or not.
