Does anyone know if it's possible to remove computrace Lo Jack from a stolen laptop.
Here is a link to what this is.
http://www.absolute.com/en/products/computrace/features.aspx

I saw that it was active in the BIOS menu and couldn't scroll down to it.

after reading the website, and noting on the abilities of the protection software - including the ability to contact the law via a third party, leading them right to your doorstep. Personally, i'd ditch the laptop. But i guess because it's on both the HDD and BIOS, rip em out and replace em? thats only because i'd rather spend the money on a BIOS and HDD than spend time in jail, even if there is an easier way around it.

On the paranoid note.. remove the battery from the laptop to further protect yourself. ALWAYS be more paranoid than necessary, it'll keep you out of jail.

I think it's just the standard factory installed version, not the premium version that has GPS tracking. I've never connected online with it either so no worry. The hard drive might be the only part worth making use of.
