This is getting a little out of control. Enough with the flames.
I see what some of you are saying. Men and women should be treated "as equals", not "the same." Because they are not the same. This really shouldn't be a huge debate. Women should get treated with the same fairness and respect as men. No better no worse. That means that they should get paid the same for doing the same or equivalent work.
As an example; Of course you cannot expect a women to lift 100 lbs on a day to day basis at her job. Women and men are not the same creature. Men naturally have stronger upper bodies then women do. Does this mean men should get paid more? No. You can't pay a group of people less because they are born a certain way. It's illegal to do that to people who are born with mental disabilities. Why should it be ok to do it to people born with less muscle mass? On the other hand, more often then not, men really suck at waiting tables at restaurants, and similar jobs. That sort of work is a women's expertise. So there's things that women are better at then men and vice versa. You can't, with any kind of credibility, argue that heavy lifting type jobs are more difficult then customer service jobs. I dare you to try. I've worked in both and I'll take manual fucking labor over waiting tables at a restaurant any day. The stress involved with customer service in the food industry in particular is ridiculous. Not to mention that often times your boss is a complete asshole and verbally abusive on regular occasions. To top it off, that is the lowest paying job in the work industry that I can possibly think of, and only in certain regions of the country do people actually tip well. Also, just to cover this before anyone tries to argue this point, a table-waiting job at a restaurant doesn't get paid under minimum wage because they get tipped. Bartenders and delivery drivers get tipped, and they make more money then the waitresses.
Every single time.
