I Need help cracking hash.
« on: October 02, 2014, 04:56:31 pm »
Hello, here is my first post, i joined comunity awhile ago (not even full week) and i love tutorias.

Now I'm asking for some feedback, for first time i went out there and tried to make a change (I want to be gray hacker with more drops of white). So I've found this site wich is insulting one person, and site as you may guessed has poor security. It has hidden login and an MD5 Hash.

Now thing is, im trying to crack it with Cain and its not going very well. It says it is going to take 10 years to crack it.
I Just want some help getting this cracked.
All im asking is that you help me crack this MD5 Hash - "3a49b228eb69abc06291d641e620787d"
WITHOUT " " signs.

Oh and 1 more thing, where do i find login page? Here's code:

Code: [Select]
<html><head>

<script type="text/javascript" src="md5.js"></script><style type="text/css"></style>
<script type="text/javascript">
function pass_prompt(){
var password = prompt("What is the password to enable this feature");
hash = hex_md5(password);
if(hash=="3a49b228eb69abc06291d641e620787d"){
window.location.href=""+password+".htm";
}
else{
alert("Sorry that was not correct.");
} }
</script>

<style>

.hidden {color:white;}

p{display:inline}

div {display: block; width: 30px height: 30px; text-indent: -999px; text-decoration: none;}

nav ul li {display:inline;margin-right:20px;}

nav{margin:10px;border:solid 1px;background:lightgrey;display:inline;float:right;}

nav a {text-decoration:none;font-size:30px;color:black;display:inline;}

.hover {font-size:100px}

</style>

</head>

<body style="background-image:url('http://www.*CENSORED*.jpg')">
<nav>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.*CESNSORED?>Home </a> </li>
<li><a href="http://www.*CESNSORED*jpg">Skinny Jt </a> </li>
<li><a href="http://www.*CENSORED*png">Hehehe </a> </li>
</ul>
</nav>

<p class="hover">Hahahahahaha. *CESNSORED*</p>
<br>
<div onclick="pass_prompt();">Stupid!<>

</body></html>

[/size][size=78%]Yes i censored some things on site just because i want to close this case by myself! :D [/size]
[/size][size=78%]Thank you for all of feedback in advance! :D[/size]

Why do you even want to get access to that "secret" site? What do you think you're going to archive by doing so?

Also, according to the response-headers the homepage was last edited in June 2012...
Seems it's a fairly old website... So why do you want to "hack" it?

Okay, i do not know what will i do there, but i do not care if site is fairly old, its is my first.. Lets say real project, untill now i've been only doing "real" missions on HackThisSite!, "real" missions on ThisIsLegal.com and was reading ton of tutorials on other 10 sites.
So, can you help me to complete my first actual project?

I am sorry if you consider this advertising so i will remove those links if someone asks me.

We know those links already so no sweat.
This is just a damn MD5 Cain is a bitch to even give you a time period when all it is gonna take is a simple script and a good worldlist. Trust me, if you can't write a simple script; can't google for one; can't use a decent password cracker with your good wordlist, this aint the job for you.
Now get on with it.

And May The Odds Be In Your Favour Always.
If you can't explain it to a 6 year old, you don't understand it yourself.

I Thought Cain is the best at cracking, if can write simple code in Python to run this but will it really be better than Cain?

P.S. Yes i can write this in python myself no problem, I just thought it'd be slower than Cain.

Speed depends on alot of things; your algorithm and processing power; plus other factors. Though cain can easily do this but with a good algorithm background, i could do better than Cain since it focuses on alot of things but i focus on just MD5.

We are trailing off and entering Algorithm designs which might send me to look at what algorithms cain is using and how fast they are. Sorry, what was the original question? Though i think it will still depend on how goofd your word list is.
