Laptop for linux

I'm looking for a real cheap laptop to run Linux on any recommendations?  I have been looking at windows xp and vista laptops on eBay, but don't know what to look for.

You have the right idea. I would look up models that come with atheros chipsets, if you can find one with nvidia chipset, even better. However, be wary of HP models, alot of them have overheating issues.

You might be able to save some more money if you look for laptops that wont turn on due to BSOD or any other laptops that turn on but wont load the OS.
