I hear you like virtualization?
« on: February 01, 2012, 02:37:31 pm »

This is what I did today because we didn't have a powerful or recent enough machine to run VMWare ESXi Server 5.0.0.

I was quite happy, because for one, I managed to install ESXi to live boot and run from a USB drive (unsupported), but I also managed to get it to run without issue inside a VirtualBox environment. Another thing which supposedly shouldn't work.

Here was the setup.

Code: [Select]
Physical Machine (Windows 7)
 --------------------------------------------------
|  Virtual Box with single guest                   |
|  using live mounted physical volumes             |

| |  VMWare ESXi 5.0.0                           | |

Interesting. Didn't think that was supposed to work like that. Congratulations on breaking the system!
