Can someone help me with a computer problem?
« on: March 19, 2012, 09:36:13 pm »
This previous Christmas, I bought a Sony Vaio laptop.
Its a Windows 7 computer.
I got a message saying that Vaio no longer supported my Internet Security, and then it wouldn't let me connect to the internet at all. I tried a lot of things to try to fix it, but nothing has worked.
I called Sony and asked them for help, but they wanted me to bring my computer down to California, and pay 50$ USD for them to have someone look at it for any problems.
Obviously, i'm not going to do that, so I decided to ask for some help here.

Thanks.

Have you checked hosts file, disabling proxy in IE, using another browser and NOT importing configurations from other browsers?
Have you tried telnet google.com 80?
Tell us more, help might show up ;)

Your error is so rare :| I couldn't be able to find it anywhere on the internet :D

Here goes few tips,

Did you tell Sony that your Laptop is still in a warranty period ? If you've bought a brand new laptop then you're still in a warranty period so Sony shouldn't charge you to look into the problem.

If this doesn't solve your problem then,

Do you have a Recovery Media ? (a disc that comes along the Laptop to install OS if it is corrupted)
If you don't have recovery media then create one from the 'Vaio Care Center' and Re-install the OS through that disc.

P.S: Vaio Care center should be found in the Start menu.
