[WIP]Hacking with a Acer Iconia A500

Ok well I have some more free time on my hands so I'm going to start with working on hacking with an Acer Iconia Tablet, not just basics, but I mean, actually be able to hack WEP, Crack WPA, use metasploit, attack websites, etc.

Now most people say its impossible, but when my tablet has a dual core processor, 1 gb ram, as well as a USB Host port, I can't help but think this should work. I'm deciding to post this so others here can try as well as when/if I get stuck I can get some help Anyways onto my ideas.

First off I did some research (not in depth, but I've done some lol) and I found this:

Did my research on that, rooted my tablet, flashed a rom with a custom kernal (to support loop) and got backtrack running (chrooted) on my tablet, ex:

Terminal on Tab Startup:


Running androidVNC with settings:


Backtrack 5 Running:


So now I've been trying to work with this, however I'm having trouble installing dependencies and the aircrack suite (working on successfully hacking a wep network) I've tried compiling it, but its a no go (will update later with errors) however, I've been waiting on a friend to give me back my wifi hack card (http://www.dealextreme.com/p/2000mw-high-power-802-11b-g-54mbps-usb-2-0-wireless-network-dongle-with-dual-high-gain-antenna-44929?item=18) so I can really get started.

I figure since the Acer Iconia a500 has a USB host port (that works USB mouse worked flawlessly) I need to pick up a hub and see if I can plug in a keyboard, mouse, and the Wireless Network Dongle (which wont interfere with Acer's proprietary driver bullshit) which is supported out of the box in most linux distributions and will go into monitor mode without a problem. I believe without having to worry about the built in wifi card, I can use one that is greatly supported and should work just fine when it comes to using any wifi tools (wifi attacks/penetration)

Other route
If I'm unable to get this working [chrooted] (doesn't modify any files on my android) then to run linux nativly on my Iconia Tab, which has been accomplished (with ubuntu, but same as backtrack 5 essentially)

Doesn't look like much interest in this project... Anyways maybe you could help me... I'm trying to do this chrooted, but it doesn't look like its going to work. I guess I had a misconception of how the tablet was reading the input for the mouse... The chrooted backtrack didn't use the USB port the tablet did... So I'm assuming the chrooted backtrack isn't reading the device... So it does look to be that if I want to do this I'm going to have to run linux natively on my tablet...

However I do have a question... For some reason the person that made the image file for the backtrack removed aircrack from it... I've tried downloading (tarbal and svn) but everytime I try to compile it I get this error:



Also I was thinking I might look into running slitaz on my tablet, but IDK its an idea

to resolve the errors during the make of aircrack-ng i've done like this:
apt-get install zlib1g-dev


[install libssl-dev]
wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/64412492/libssl-dev_0.9.8k-7ubuntu8.6_armel.deb
dpkg --install libssl-dev_0.9.8k-7ubuntu8.6_armel.deb


[add /sbin to PATH]
export PATH=$PATH:/sbin


Now i'll able to compils correctly aircrack-ng






It seem the Iconia a501' wifi chipset isn't reconzie by backtrack?

so i just got in on this track only difference is that im doing it on a phone ^^
have backtrack and aircrack on no problems with make
card goes in to monitor mode and seems to be abel to injecting (this is not confirmed) will do some tests
problem is that i dont get IV packs or its not showing. havent tested it to much just started yesterday.

so whats my goal?

hack bluetooth

Dont give up this thread. I am new to linux or backtrack. I have the acer a500 and the lg optimus 2x. I have backtrack in stalled on the acer a500 and on the lg but the lg wont vnc and acer wont monitor mode. I believe the aircrack ng was installed i dont think the libssl-dev installed. Aircrack help is available when command is entered on acer.On the lg in vnc i get a box /usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2- exited with status 256
and the background is grey. I tried different pixel. The lg has only 5.50 gb internal memory which can be unmounted.
I have seen that the samsung galaxy tab has everything working and apparently the wifi chipset is the same. What if you use a Samsung galaxy rom not stock of course. Isnt the drivers tge same because of tge same wifi chipset? One day I will get the hang of all this but until then "Please Help"! Lol. Email me anytime and i bookmarked this page so i hope you update this thread. I will be searching for info ever day. If you know anything about getting the lg optimus 2x to install backtrack and monitor mode working with aircrack please share that too. I might just buy the Nokia N900 which is debian native and will install everything np but until i either sell the lg i will hope something comes up. Thanks

]I hope you didnt give up on this project. I dont know anything about how to write this but i know that i would appreciate your work for the acer a500 so please dont give up. Aircrack is working on the samsung galaxy, and there are other tablets that it works on. I believe the wireless chip is the same. I read that this is the important part. I found some interesting info. Monitor mode works on bcm4329. Isnt that the same as the acer a500? I bleieve the links are translated with google but if not you will have to use google translate. Aircrack should work on the a500 with usb and with the right chipset. It works on the Motorola Xoom. Stay in touch. Thanks.

Hello to every body




I found an boot.img file that I was flash with fastboot on my a200, this modified boot allow me to diseable the boot from mmcblk0p0 partition on my internal storage device, and boot from mmcblk1p2 partition on my external sdcard.


I was try with ubuntu 10.x first time, I can get input device support and touchscreen support, when I connect the usb keyboard do not work.


So I was try debian test edition, I was get usb support for keyboard and mouse device. I can get support for touchscreen.

I can get support for wireless card, the firmware for it appear to be on the kernel but lshw -c network show me that wlan0 is disabled and I can get to up it. so I can get update or upgrade the system, I will try to install some .deb manually download its depends one by one.


Libre office works perfectly, I get more memory support, I mean on android I get 700 Mb of RAM memor, on Debian I get about 900 Mb.


I just have a 2Gb sdcard so I can not install so much aplications right now.



Can somebody help me get wireless support for my device?
