purchasing a domain name?

So, I thought purchasing a domain name would be cool and I singled out the ".gl" one. Is it good? I don't know much about purchasing a domain and I thought if someone who did could help me out.

are their any different rules between different domains.. the top level ones.

are their any specific requirements and any paperwork or verification involved? Can the registrar remove my domain whenever they wish or are their any conditions?

It shouldn't. But don't choose GoDaddy

There are no requeriments. Just go to any decent domain seller and get it. There are some which let you pay with paypal, librety reserve, or even bitcoins. That could be an advantage if it is for extrange things, you know.
Then you will need some hosting. Most of them have their own DNS so you can configure your domain to just use it. If not (that was my case), you can
a) Install a DNS server in the host and make it resolve to itself
b) Use some free DNS service such as dnsExit.com

godaddy? it does not provide .gl domain... but they advertise as worlds best.. !

but it seems they can delete my domain when they see fit..

I am going for 101 domains and searched google... people have left only positive feedbacks... as far as I have seen.

nothing fishy planned... just buying one because the name was attractive and short..
but good to know, for use in future

 Sslcatacombing is a good host. I usually just stick with my .com .org and .net though it doesn't really matter though. As far as deleting goes they shouldn't unless it gets seized or something.
