The Cube-Are you Curious?
« on: November 08, 2012, 07:10:41 am »
Okay, so I read about this in the latest issue of Wired and downloaded it on the app store today. From the creator of Fable, Fable 2, Black and White, Black and White 2, among other games that have helped us think differently about videogames comes a game about a Cube.

The goal? Break blocks off the cube by tapping your screen on iOS or android, there will supposedly be a browser version as well. As you break off blocks you get coins to spend on hammers and firecrackers to make your block breaking more effective.

Wow, how boring. what makes this so interesting??

First off, the cube itself is on a server and is updated realtime on not only your screen but everyone else playing the game as well. As layers are broken off, you get closer to the center of the Cube.

Why do we want to go there? Because at the center of the cube is a secret, that will be revealed only to the person who breaks the final block. Rumor has it that it's a link to a video, and the game creator said it would be then up to the person who gets to view that link as to whether or not they wish to share it with the rest of the world. He hasn't even told his wife or children what the secret is...

This game is the first part of an unknown quantity in his new studios (22 cans) which he formed after leaving Microsoft because of creative stiffling. His goal with this game is to get 100 million DAU (daily average users), just to give some scope to that Zynga, who makes most of the facebook games and shit, has a DAU of 75 million users. This game is a game, but it's also a social experiment as well.

So i'll leave it up to you to decide the ultimate question

Are you curious?

I personally have had some problems with the server being overloaded, give them time to sort that out. It was released today lol

<Xires> Daemon; what they do not disclose is that the app is cloud-based and linked to a robotic tongue
<Xires> which proceeds to lick a tootsie pop for every tap
-----------
<Xires> nothing is at the center, just more cubes
<Xires> this is how minecraft gets building materials

I stand by these both.

It's....strangely addicting tbh with you haha. All your doing is tapping the screen, yet it's a great way to pass the time. Go figure!

And server problems seem to be getting better, must go get more coins...
